The distribution of aliphatic sulfides in the heavy naphtha, kerosene and light gas oil fraction of ARAMCO crude was studied by spectrophotometry of sulfide-iodine complex according to the same method as the first report, and the limit of application for this method was determined. The results obtained were as follows;Fraction Aliphatic Sulfide Sulfur (wt.%) % in total SulfurLight Naphtha 0.009 37Heavy Naphtha 0.061 74Kerosene 0.143 75Light Gas Oil 0.184 20Moreover, it was found that this method should be applied to the fraction lighter than the light gas oil (B. P.: 246 to 316°C; M. W.: approx. 210) of ARAMCO crude.
