This paper presents the development of low-count optical premises cables having the feature of easy-installation. Technologies of separable optical fiber ribbon, low-friction and abrasion-resistant material and high strength member are combined in these cables.

A low friction indoor cable has been newly developed. As a result of optimizing the designs of outer dimension, sheath material and stiffness, the remarkable improvement of cable installation through a conduit line is demonstrated.
