Abstract During deep-sea trawling in Taiwanese waters, four species of galatheids belonging to the genus Munidopsis were collected at two stations deeper than 3000 m. Three species represent new records from Taiwan: M. panamae Baba, 2005, M. profunda Baba, 2005, and M. teretis Baba, 2005, all recently described and known from very limited material. The other is a new species, Munidopsis tafrii, which resembles M. ceratophthalma Alcock, 1901, and M. orcina McArdle, 1901, but clearly differs in characters of the carapace. The specimens of M. profunda from 4430-4455 m are the deepest record for marine animals from Taiwanese waters.

ABSTRACT A new galatheid crustacean, Munidopsis latiangulata, is described on the basis of a single specimen collected from deep waters off Taiwan. This new species is close to M. orcina McArdle, 1901, but is distinguished by the nearly horizontal rostrum lacking a distinct dorsal, longitudinal ridge and by having a telson composed of ten instead of eight plates. Munidopsis latiangulata is the fifth species of the genus recorded from Taiwan.

ABSTRACT Munidopsis sarissa, a new galatheid crustacean associated with gorgonian corals, is described from Taiwan at depths of about 1000 m. This new species is unique in the genus by having an extremely spinose carapace with elongated spearhead-like rostrum, fourth thoracic sternite much larger than following sternites, and very long and slender chelipeds possessing broad coxae which are clearly visible from the dorsal view of the animal.

A new porcellanid crab, Petrolisthes polychaetus n. sp., is described based on material collected from Hainan Island, China. The new species appears closest to P. miyakei Kropp, 1984 and P. trilobatus Osawa, 1996, but is distinguishable by the presence of numerous simple setae, scattered on the dorsal surface of the carapace.

The estuarine hermit crab, Clibanarius ambonensis is reported from Iriomote Island, southern Ryukyu Islands, Japan. This is the first record of the species from outside Indonesian territory. Clibanarius ambonensis was found on prop roots or trunks of Rhizophora stylosa or on rocks adjacent to the trees, which were exposed to the air at low tide time. The habitat seems to distinguish C. ambonensis in the field from the other local congeners inhabiting estuarine and mangrove areas such as C. longitarsus and C. striolatus . The latter two species usually inhabit the sand or mud surface of the estuarine and mangrove areas.
