Abstract Success of market based entrepreneurial projects embedded with a social mission contributed to growing interest to social entrepreneurship in existing entrepreneurship literature. The purpose of this study is to examine whether the widely accepted motivational factors influencing entrepreneurial process have similar influence on social entrepreneurs in Bangladesh. Based on the seminal work of Shane et al. (2003) on entrepreneurial motivation, a survey was conducted among the social entrepreneurs in Bangladesh and collected data was analyzed. A regression analysis shows that some of widely accepted factors have significant influence while others have less or non-significant influence on Bangladeshi social entrepreneurs. This empirical paper contributes to better understanding of behavioral aspect of social entrepreneurship in Bangladesh where a high number of worlds leading social ventures were formed and expanded world-wide.

This article argues that the traditional belief that “consumer ethnocentrism is a phenomenon of the developed countries only” is no longer true. To establish this argument, this study assesses the applicability of the Consumer Ethnocentric Tendencies Scale (CETSCALE) to a developing country Bangladesh. The methodology is based on 788 samples collected from 27 districts of Bangladesh. Results show that for three chosen sociodemographic groups namely, students, job holders, and businessmen, the CETSCALE is to a much extent applicable as the groups have shown positive attitudes in retaining 12 to 14 items out of the 17 items of the original scale.

The ratio, product, chain ratio, chain product, chain regression and ratio-cum product estimators have been considered by Chand (1975), Kiregyera (1980, 1984), Upadhyaya et. al. (1990, 1992), Srivastava et. al. (1990), Prasad et. al. (1992), Sahoo and Sahoo (1993), Singh (1993). Most of them discussed these estimators along with their first order bias and mean square error. In this paper, we have tried to fond out the second order biases and mean square errors of these estimators based on simple random sampling. Finally, we have compared the performance of these estimators with some numerical illustration.

In this study, attempts have been made to present a critical/empirical investigation on the Agricultural Wage and Rice Price of Bangladesh from 1973 to 2005 on various aspects of stationary and cointegrating regressions. Analysis followed by Dickey Fuller tests indicated that both the variables are integrated of order (0) and cointegrated. So, there exits a long run relationship between those variables.
