Light guide technology in headlamps and rear lamps

Matthias Gebauer; Michael Hamm

Headlamps are the eyes of a car and make a substantial contribution to its appearance and image. Light guide technology in particular enables the design of contours and illuminated signatures that are easily detectable, thus providing brand recognition. One example can be seen in the new BMW 3 series coupe headlamp, a joint development of BMW and Automotive Lighting.
