Concurrent versioning principles for collaboration: towards PLM for hardware and software data management

Matthieu Bricogne; Louis Rivest; Nadège Troussier; Benoît Eynard

The change management (CM) and version control mechanisms used in the mechanical and software domains are presented in the product lifecycle management (PLM) and application lifecycle management (ALM) approaches, respectively. Based on their comparison, this paper discusses branching/merging concepts and utilises them to propose an evolution of the product data management (PDM) functions of PLM, thereby allowing PLM to become a collaborative platform common to software and hardware engineers. This evolution is an opportunity to develop a three-way merge tool for CAD documents. Recent works on model-merging techniques from the software development domain are evaluated in the process.

PHENIX: product history-based reverse engineering

Alexandre Durupt; Sébastien Remy; Matthieu Bricogne; Nadège Troussier

Reverse engineering (RE) is an activity which consists in digitising a real part in order to create a CAD model. Today, a lot of references are centred on geometrical approaches based on transformations of the point cloud. The issued CAD models are generally ‘frozen’ or barely re-usable. Nevertheless, to support engineering changes in a new design process, the product should be represented with a parametric geometry. This paper suggests a knowledge-based approach in order to provide a product’s parametric CAD model. A data model based on the extension of the core product model (CPM) is suggested and enables to manage multi-CAD models of the knowledge-based RE process.

Simulations of consecutive diffusion process

Jiulong Chen; Wenhua Zhu; Benoît Eynard; Matthieu Bricogne; Nadège Troussier

Process simulation based on virtual reality can comprehensively present the real process on the computer. It can play an important role in the development and manufacturing field of diffusion furnace. This paper researches the establishment of consecutive diffusion process and the key techniques of process simulation. In the process of creating process simulation, V code would be created to control motion of each part. A simulation that reflects on the real process could be acquired with this research. This process simulation not only shortens the development time of diffusion furnace, but also makes designer have a perspective to the defects of product in the design process. It promotes the effective of design, and reduces changes in later period of design.

Intelligent modeling of moulded case circuit breaker

Shuai Kong; Wenhua Zhu; Benoît Eynard; Matthieu Bricogne; Nadège Troussier

Aiming at the customization, design quality and design efficiency requirements in product design, this paper studies the technology of intelligent modeling of Moulded Case Circuit Breaker. This paper presents intelligent model technology. First, presents the definition of intelligent model, and then studies the process of how to realize intelligent model, including extracting key geometric parameters, defining feature control parameters, controlling topological structure and controlling model rule. Finally, combined with the intelligent model technology, realize of intelligent modeling of Moulded Case Circuit Breaker. The result shows that this technology can meet higher design requirements, and finally enhance the competitiveness of enterprises.

Survey on Configuration Management of Modular Mechatronics Products

Jing Li; Shurong Tong; Matthieu Bricogne; Nadège Troussier

Configuration management of modular mechatronics products is an effective way of rapid development for the modular mechatronics industry. By summarizing the relevant literature, the concept of product configuration is illustrated. Then this article sums up the latest research progress for configuration design process modeling, configuration knowledge management, implementation method for configuration management methods. Finally, the weak aspects of present research are discussed, and the following research topics are determined.Copyright
