Comparison of different models employed to describe the z-scan curves for thick nonlinear optical media

Israel Severiano Carrillo; Marcela M. Méndez Otero; Maximino L. Arroyo Carrasco; Marcelo D. Iturbe Castillo

A model that considers a photoinduced lens with a focal length dependent on a real power of the incident beam radius is compared with other reported models employed to describe the z-scan curves for thick media. It is demonstrated that this model is equivalent to that used to describe z-scan curves for thin nonlocal nonlinear media; then an extension is made for thick nonlocal nonlinear media. A comparison is made with other models to obtain z-scan curves for thick media. It is demonstrated that, under the same conditions, remarkable differences can be found in the simulated z-scan curves.A model that considers a photoinduced lens with a focal length dependent on a real power of the incident beam radius is compared with other reported models employed to describe the z-scan curves for thick media. Self-healing of beams with angular momentum

Job Mendoza Hernandez; Maximino L. Arroyo Carrasco; Marcela M. Méndez Otero; Marcelo D. Iturbe Castillo; Sabino Chávez-Cerda

The dynamics of the self-healing of beams with rotating wave front is demonstrated experimentally and explained theoretically. Partially obstructed high order Bessel beams present the same dynamics than partially obstructed parabolic beams

Measurement of Fluid Velocities by Means of Photo-ElectroMotive Force Effect

Maximino L. Arroyo Carrasco; Silvino Muñoz Solís; Marcela M. Méndez Otero; Erwin A. Martí Panameño; Ponciano Rodrígez Montero

It is possible to measure the velocity of fluids with the interference between scattered light from the fluid and a phase modulated reference beam by means of photodetectors based on photo ElectroMotive Force Effect.

Generation of Bessel-Gauss Beams by Means of Computed-Generated Holograms for Bessel Beams

Marcela M. Méndez Otero; Gregorio C. Martínez Jiménez; Maximino L. Arroyo Carrasco; Marcelo D. Iturbe Castillo; Erwin A. Martí Panameño

We show the generation of a Bessel-Gauss beam with a Bessel computer-generated hologram illuminated with a Gaussian intensity distribution. The parameters of the generated beam depend of the wave front of the illumination.

Analytical Expressions for Z-scan Curves in Nonlocal Thin Media with Two Nonlinear Responses

Maximino L. Arroyo Carrasco; Beatriz A. Martínez Irivas; Marcela M. Méndez Otero; Marcelo D. Iturbe Castillo

Starting from a nonlocal nonlinear model and the Gaussian decomposition method analytical expressions for z-scan curves are obtained when two simultaneous refractive and/or absorptive nonlinear responses are present.

Two nonlinear optical processes in z-scan curves of a bleached photographic film

Edmundo Reynoso Lara; José Antonio Dávila Pintle; Manuel Rendón Marín; Yolanda Elinor Bravo García; Maximino L. Arroyo Carrasco; Marcela M. Méndez Otero; Marcelo D. Iturbe Castillo; Carlos G. Treviño

A bleached photographic film was characterized by z-scan technique. This sample was fitted with the Photoinduced Thin Lens (PhTL) model. According to this model are present two optical nonlinear processes.

Asymmetric collision of two bright spatial solitons in a Kerr media

Marcelo David Iturbe-Castillo; Daysi Ramírez Martínez; Marcela M. Méndez Otero; Maximino L. Arroyo Carrasco

We study numerically the asymmetric collision of spatial solitons and their waveguide properties. We demonstrated that the amount of energy confined by each waveguide is function of the initial angle and separation between the solitons

Nonlinear refractive and absorptive response of a thin nonlocal media

Marcelo David Iturbe-Castillo; Emma V. Ramirez Garcia; Maximino L. Arroyo Carrasco; Marcela M. Méndez Otero; Edmundo Reynoso Lara; Sabino Chavez Cerda

A model to describe both nonlinear refractive and absorptive response of a thin nonlocal media is proposed. The model is used to obtain the far field intensity of the close or open aperture z-scan technique

Optical Path Difference Determination by Means of Coherence Degree Measurement

Maximino L. Arroyo Carrasco; Diana Rodríguez Méndez; Marcela M. Méndez Otero; Israel Severiano Carrillo

We measure the optical path difference of two interfering beams by means of the coherence degree determination with Photo Electro-Motive Force based detectors. This technique makes possible profile, thickness and index of refraction measurements

Comparison of Three Methods to Measure the Coherence Length of a Low Coherence Source

Maximino L. Arroyo Carrasco; Marcela M. Méndez Otero; René O. Hernández Sánchez; Alma Arroyo Vélez; Erwin A. Martí Panameño

We measure the coherence length of a Super Luminescent Diode with three different methods; its spectral profile, the visibility of an interference pattern and the photo-EMF effect. These permit us to compare the three techniques.
