Determination of Typologies of the Visitors Coming FIBA World Championship 2010

Abstract Characteristics of foreigners who visit an area for sports events could have a significant impact over the volume of touristic development and growth trend in tourism. In this case, analysis of demographics of foreigners in that area is essential in shaping the carrying capacity, projects regarding promotion of tourism and the services to be provided. This process depends largely on the importance of mega events. The aim of this study is to profile the structure of FIBA World Championship 2010 visitors. For this purpose, the researchers carried out semi-structured bilateral interviews with voluntary foreigners (n=372) to analyse their touristic profile. During the Championship held in 2010 in Turkey, surveys were conducted with spectators. The data collected was analysed through SPSS 14 statistical packaged software (SPSS 2009), by means of frequency, percentage and chi square tests.

Examining the Decision-making Levels of Glider Pilot Trainers and Glider Pilot Candidates in Terms of Socio-demographic Variables

Abstract The purpose of the present research is to examine the decision-making levels of glider pilot trainers and glider pilot candidates who serve in the field of Aeronautics in terms of certain socio-demographic variables. The universe of the present research comprises of all the pilot candidates and pilot trainers who performed gliding sports at the Turkish Aeronautical Association in 2013. In the present research, 71 pilot candidates and 21 trainer pilots that is, a total of 92 individuals participated. Obtained data was analyzed using SPSS 18 Statistics Software Package, and the significance levels was taken as p<0.05. Frequency analysis was used for personal features, oneway variance analysis (ANOVA) was used to analyze variation by age, and independent t-test analysis was used for license status and profession. Consequently, decision-making styles of glider pilot trainers were higher than glider pilot candidates. Self-respect, avoidant decision-making, suspensive decision-making, and panic decision-making styles were similar.

Examining Decision-making Levels of Athletes of Various Branches in Team Environments in Terms of Socio-demographic Variables

Abstract The purpose of the present research is examining decision-making levels of athletes of various branches in team environments in terms of socio-demographic variables. Research group consisted of 128 female, 178 male; a total of 306 athletes who play various sports. In order to collect data, 4-question “Personal Information Form” and “Melbourne Decision-making Scale” developed by Mann et al. (1998) were used. Collected data were analysed in SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) for Windows 21.0 packaged software. Research findings revealed that decision-making styles of athletes differed significantly across sports branches they played, their genders, and sport ages. The limited number of researches on the subject matter in Turkey increases the importance of the present research.

In this study, “Primary Level of Participation and Communication Skills Relationship Betweeen Students’ Sports Activities, were investigated. Sample of the study the 2010-11 academic year, the Eregli district of Konya Province in the Sumerian Elementary School, 100th Anniversary of Independence. Elementary School, Elementary School’s 60th Anniversary F.Atalay, Yunus Emre Primary School, Primary School, 6 Zubeyde Iseri 7. and all of the 8th grade students are studying. Advanced 8-item from of personal information by researchers in the study and 7item form was used to determine the level of participation in sports activites. Finally, the study consisting of 45 questions Ersanli and Balci (1996) developed by the Communication Skills Inventory is used. As a result of the survey of students participating in sports activities, classes, genders, ages, parents’education, and communication skills to the level of income has changed significantly.
