To propagate emergency messages including vehicle accident, traffic congestion, environmental information at the highway driving is very crucial to provide safety attention to the follower drivers and passengers at the Vehicular Ad-Hoc Network (VANET). We design simple and easy implementable broadcasting scheme, SLBP(SNR based Linear Back-Off Protocol) which selects transmission sequence as based on received SNR(Signal Noise Ratio) value and linearly back-off at each receiver node inside same propagation range under not having priori neighbor’s information. We focus on the messages transmission delay, propagation distance and broadcasting storm size as varying the Wi-Fi equipment penetration rate on vehicles to estimate a deploy scenario of emergency propagation service. We examine proposed scheme by ns-3 simulation. NS-3 Simulation results show that the proposed SLBP scheme is less transmission packet sending to reach destination than simple broadcast flooding algorithm. Also simulation shows severe transmission delay under the condition of less 30% Wi-Fi equipment penetration rate both general broadcasting and SLBP scheme.

This paper proposes a noble around view system based on moving object detection algorithm using background subtraction for safe bus getting on-and-off. Recently, vehicles tend to equip with several types of cameras on them as standard option for safety. Since full sized vehicles like buses confront with more moving persons around them comparing with small sized cars, they may need around view monitoring system instead of single rear camera to enlarge drivers view angle. The proposed system provides drivers with environment information around the vehicle for safe getting on-and-off. This algorithm requires high processing speed rather than high detection rate because on-line detection and action are important to avoid possible collision with them around vehicle. The proposed algorithm detects the locations of objects using information of objects motion obtained by applying a simple background subtraction method which compares the consecutive frames. The experiment which uses real movies in embedded system and PC confirms the effectiveness of the object detection algorithm.

We propose a traffic information service system for which traffic data are transmitted over vehicle ad-hoc network from neighbor vehicles, and eventually provided to the traffic information center through a few gateway vehicles which are capable of inter-working with the infrastructure network like 3G. The center broadcasts the traffic information through the FM radio. The proposed scheme allows collecting and analyzing traffic status of large areas without incorporating separated monitoring systems, e.g., probe cars and enables to provide accurate traffic information to drivers in timely manner. We also evaluate its performance by ns-3 simulation.

In this paper, we investigate pedestrian detection from visible color imagery in a manner that reduces the number of false positives (FPs) per frame. We propose a simple way to eliminate many of such unwanted FPs that usually result from applying a state-of-the-art pedestrian object detector to a visible color image. The symmetric structure of pedestrian bodies can often be a good clue to distinguish them from non-pedestrians. Hence, each and every individual detected object (bounded box) in the initial step of detection is used to reconstruct some new symmetric-looking objects. If any of these objects are detected, they are confirmed to be a person; otherwise, they are omitted from the very first list of detected objects. Experimental results show how these FPs are removed using such a simple technique while maintaining the previous low miss rate.

In this paper, we examine Ethernet based vehicle network which is recently emerging technology. Current MOST for entertainment will be soon replaced with the emerging Ethernet based vehicle network. Although legacy standard Ethernet has several advantages it is not suitable for vehicle backbone network without any modification. As a result, many researches are happening on extending and modification of the Ethernet function for realtime and reliability. Time-triggered Ethernet, one of many trials known as AS6802, is investigated on the architecture and functionalities. We design the traffic model on Time-triggered Ethernet and analyse the latency of the network. We also consider the QoS requirement and environment of operating configuration for vehicle network.

Thesedays, there are many smart device applications developed, especially on the using various sensors included in the smart device. Smart devices have several sensors which are camera, GPS, mike, and communication module for collecting ubiquitous environment, and many applications are developed by using such sensors. In this paper, we developed the multimedia stream architecture and examined the smart device applications based on open source with front and back-end server clouds for developing the conceptual architecture. Also, we examined the back-end distributed servers, realtime multimedia stream transferring, multi-media store, and media relay for other server and smart devices. We test the examined architecture on the real target environment to collect the SIP initial setup time, media stream delay, and end-to-end play time. The test results show that there have good network operation environment to provide realtime multimedia services, and we need to improve the end-to-end play time by minimizing the initial setup time.
