Abstract What with globalisation, consolidation, competition, legislation, standardisation and the Internet Revolution, the pressure is now on industry associations to serve their members better than ever before. The Hydraulic Institute is under just such a weight of expectation, and is now more active than ever before, setting the pace for change and harminisation within the pump community. Micaahel Cotter asked HI executive director, Bob Asdal, about its latest ventures, which at the moment heavily involve the digital domain. (This article forms an abridged version of the full interview. Abstract In response to the wishes of a large number of member companies, Europump has developed a web-based survey procedure for the collection, collation and presentation of order intake data for liquid pumps. The data should enable participants to gain a much better understanding of the business climate in their key markets and to benchmark their own companys performance against that of their comppetitors. Michael Cotter spoke to Brian Huxley and George Robson, to find out more.
