Intramolecular rearrangement of thioozonides: Sulfine formation without sulfur atom scrambling, a double isotope crossover study

Abstract Decomposition of a mixture of 34 S and deuterium labeled thioozonides prepared by photooxidation of dimethylthiophenes in CDCl 3 has shown that intramolecular rearrangement to thioketone S-oxide, a stable 1,3-dipole, proceeds cleanly without sulfur atom scrambling in the presence of sulfur allotropes.

rac-[2,2′-Bis(1-ethyl­benzimidazol-2-yl-κN3)­bi­phenyl]­di­chloro­nickel(II)

The title compound, [NiCl2(C30H26N4)], is a monoclinic (purple) racemic polymorph of a previously reported orthorhombic (blue) form of the same compound. The complex exhibits pseudo-tetrahedral coordination geometry around the nickel(II) metal center. This geometry is enforced by the geometrically constraining ligand 2,2′-bis(1-ethylxadbenzimidazol-2-yl)xadbixadphenyl.
