Fuegesystemoptimierung fuer Mischbauweisen im Karosseriebau

Siegfried Büdgam; Volker Freitag; Ortwin Hahn; Michael Ruther

Experimental and Numerical Investigations to Extend the Process Limits in Self‐Pierce Riveting

J. Eckstein; E. Roos; K. Roll; Michael Ruther; M. Seidenfuß

The work characterizes possible types of failure in the Self‐Pierce Riveting Process. It illustrates mechanical material investigations and the simulation of fracture according to a micro‐mechanical model of Rousselier.

Optimization of joining techniques for multi-material constructions in body making

Siegfried Büdgam; Volker Freitag; Ortwin Hahn; Michael Ruther

The European Automobile Industry has committed themselves to save resources and to minimize the carbon-dioxide emissions. Therefore they decided to reduce the consumption of all their sold armadas since 1995 until 2008 by about 25 %. At this they use aspects of lightweight construction, besides methods to engine optimization and fuel economy. This article from University Paderborn, Daimler-Chrysler, Porsche and Volkswagen deals with targets and results of a project financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) to optimize joining techniques of multi-material constructions with steel, aluminum and plastics.
