We would like to thank Stefan Dittmaier, Stefan Kallweit and Giuseppe Bozzi for helpful discussions, and Steffen Schumann for Sherpa-support. F.C. acknowledges a postdoctoral fellowship of the Generalitat Valenciana “Beca Postdoctoral d’Excel.lencia” and C. E. is supported nby “KCETA Strukturiertes Promotionskolleg”. This research is partly funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft under SFB TR-9 “Computergest¨utzte Theoretische nTeilchenphysik”, European FEDER and Spanish nMICINN under grant FPA2008-02878, and the Helmholtz alliance “Physics at the Terascale”.

Top quark plus jets production at a hadron collider allows us to study the couplings of the top quark. In the standard model, two single top processes contribute to the top-jets final state. Beyond the standard model, additional direct top production can occur. All three processes probe top gauge couplings including flavor mixing. The structure of accompanying QCD jets allows us to separate the direct top signal from the QCD backgrounds as well as to disentangle the three top plus jets production mechanisms orthogonally to the usual bottom tags.

The VBFNLO program package is a collection of Monte Carlo programs for the calculation of NLO QCD corrections to vector boson fusion cross sections, double and triple vector boson production, or the production of two electroweak bosons in association with an additional jet. An overview is given of the processes and features implemented in VBFNLO. WWγ and Wγ j production are discussed as examples.
