This paper deals speaker localization using received acoustic signals on microphone array. The real time localization system is based on method for a speaker speech processing and extraction of sibilant sequence. It is shown, that this method leads to good position estimation accuracy in indoor systems.

The main goal of the paper is to develop a Frequency Modulation Interrupted Continuous Wave radar simulator. The radar working frequency is 35.4 GHz and it is intended to detect clouds. The simulated output data are compared with output data acquired by the real radar. The real data are acquired from the observation of a static object - the chimney. Radar Cross Section (RCS) of the chimney is calculated and used for simulations. RCS value is used in the simulation for better approximation of results. Paper contains a method for detection based on Power Spectral Density.

Institute of Atmospheric Physics ASCR operates a dual-wavelength free space optical (FSO) link at meteorological observatory Milesovka (837 m.a.s.l.). Relevant meteorological quantities which attenuate the signal are also measured. To understand the physics behind also individual attenuation events are to be analyzed. This contribution focuses on interesting events with fog, rain and other meteorological phenomena which cause a high attenuation or an outage. Comparisons with theoretical models are also discussed. Widely known models describe signal behavior in individual situations, when only one type of meteorological phenomenon occurs. This paper shows an effect of different attenuation phenomena combinations.

The aim of this article is to show a realization of the communication chain using a digital modulation. The whole communication chain concludes knowledge gained during the studies at our department of electrical engineering. It is mainly an application of programming, embedded systems programming, a digital modulation / a demodulation as a part of a digital signal processing, network communications and others. The paper is primarily focused on the application a modulator and a demodulator implemented into a FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) chip. The identification of synchronization sequence using NXOR (not exclusive logical disjunction) instead of Cross Correlation Function is introduced. Data transfer of three-dimensional data matrix is realized and Bit Error Rate is presented.

The aim of this article is to show the concept of the close vehicle warning based on Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar. The radar works at frequency 24.1 GHz with 180 MHz bandwidth and it is intended to detect cars behind a bicyclist. The implementation of the signal processing is tested in the simulation and it is realized in Field Programmable Gate Array System On Chip and with low-cost FMCW radar. The system is installed on the bicycle.
