Optical interference study of physiological fluids transportation through semipermeable membranes

Michał S. Kaczmarek; Zenon Wołniak; Zdzislaw Blaszczak; Marian Surma

Recently much attention has been given to investigation of the mechanism of transportation through biological membranes [1,2,3]. The hitherto results have enabled a construction of a membrane model and assessment of the effect of external factors on the mechanism of transportation. The achievements have been used to design new forms of therapeutic substances and their dosage and to propose a production technology of synthetic membranes widely used e.g. in dialysis.

1-Methyl-2-(4-methylphenyl)-4-morpholinopyridazine-3,6(1H,2H)-dione

Andrzej Gzella; Ewa Melzer; Michał S. Kaczmarek; Zenon Woźniak

The structure analysis of the title compound, C16H19N3O3, has been undertaken in order to facilitate the interpretation of 1H and 13C NMR data and to determine the position of the morpholine residue in this nucleophilic substitution product. The main result is that the morpholine group, with a chair conformation, is connected at the 4-position of the pyridazine ring. The benzene and pyridazine rings make a dihedral angle of 62.17 (5)°. Molecules are linked into a two-dimensional network by non-classical C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, in which O atoms serve as double or triple acceptors.

Interference methods in the study of physiological fluid transportation through biological membranes

Zenon Wozniak; Michał S. Kaczmarek; Zdzislaw Blaszczak; Renata Jarzebinska

The subject of the study was transportation of glucose molecules through a cuprophase membrane by the earlier devised method based on the phenomenon of light interference sensitive to changes in the optical density in two neighbouring chambers separated by a membrane. In the experiment the number of light and dark interference fringes and the rate of their movement through the observation slit were recorded. The analysis of time changes in the concentration of the solutions in the two chambers brings information on the dynamics and mechanism of glucose molecules transportation through the membrane.
