New materials discovery for industrial applications

Michael W. Schoonover; Michelle J. Cohn

The rate of discovery of new zeolites and molecular sieves has increased rapidly over recent years, while the rate of introduction of new material structures into commercial applications has not paralleled this trend. This paper reviews some of the hurdles that occur between discovery and commercial implementation, as well as future enablers that are poised to accelerate both the discovery and commercialization processes.
