Type 2 diabetes is associated with high mortality and morbidity due to atherosclerosis. Biermen (1) estimated that typical risk factors, including blood pressure, cholesterol, and smoking, can account for no more than 30% of excess cardiovascular risk factor in diabetic patients. Background : Recent studies have suggested that heparin is effective for treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and its various effects (in addition to the anticoagulant effect). A case of fulminant type 1 diabetes mellitus with exocrine pancreatic insufficiency and enhanced glucagon response to meal ingestion

Non-specific aggression to endocrine alpha and beta cells as well as exocrine pancreas has been suggested in fulminant type 1 diabetes (FT1DM), while its effect on glucagon secretion and exocrine function is unknown. Here, we report a FT1DM case with exocrine pancreatic insufficiency and enhanced glucagon response to meal ingestion.
