A compact feeding structure for slot arrays is proposed in the context of so-called ridge gap waveguides. Slots are fed through a corporate feed network in ridge gap waveguide technology and backed by coaxial cavities. Coaxial cavities are very easy to integrate within the bed of nails hosting the ridge and lead to very compact 2 χ 2 basic radiating cell.

This paper describes the main features of a multilayer antenna panel for a low cost Ka-band Array Antenna for on-the-move applications. The LOCOMO satcom terminal is based on a dual-polarized low-profile antenna with trasmit/receive and RHCP/LHCP switching capability.

This paper presents a method that takes advantage of the independence of the top metal plate in Gap Waveguide (GW) topologies to overcome the problem of response deviation due to manufacturing tolerances, common at mm-wave frequencies. At each iteration of an Aggressive Space Mapping (ASM) optimization process, several tuning metal insertions are placed in the top plate to correct the component response. By doing so, the bottom piece, much more complex, is re-used. Since metal contact is not required in GW, the manufactured top piece is easily re-assembled. A narrow-band filter centered at 60 GHz has been designed with the presented method showing promising results.

This communication demonstrates experimentally the improvement in axial ratio performance when a slot is combined with a set of three parasitic dipoles instead of one. The analysis is performed in the context of slotted-waveguide arrays and SATCOM applications in Ka band, where a bandwidth specification as wide as 7.5% can be demanded.
