Abstract In this study, the total mitochondrial genome of Sarcocheilichthys sinensis sinensis (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae) was firstly determined. The genome is 16,683 bases in length. It consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes and 2 non-coding regions. The overall nucleotide composition of the H-strand of S. sinensis sinensis mitochondrial genome is A: 30.48%, G: 16.65%, T: 26.30% and C: 26.58%, respectively, with an Au2009+u2009T rich feature (56.78%). These results provide useful data to further study of the molecular systematics, species identification and conservation genetics.

Min Wei; Shoubao Yang; Peng Yu; Quan Wan

Abstract Hyriopsis cumingii is a freshwater pearl mussel in china, easily identified by a big sail-like bulging at back edge of the mussel. In the present study, we reported the complete mitochondrial genome of H. cumingii. It was 16,958u2009bp in length, and it contained 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes. Besides, we conducted alignment with other two different individuals of H. cumingii and phylogenetic analysis with closely related species.

Min Wei; Yingming Yang; Peng Yu; Dongdong Pan; Quan Wan

Abstract Chanodichthys mongolicus is a ferocious carnivorous species in the family Cyprinidae, which has a high economic value in freshwater aquaculture species. In the present study, we report the complete mitochondrial genome of C. mongolicus, comparing with two different individuals of C. mongolicus and phylogenetic analysis with closely related species. The complete mitochondrial genome of C. mongolicus was 16,622u2009bp, and it contained 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes, a control region (D-loop) and an L-strand replication origin (OL). It revealed that D-loop, ND4, ND5 and CYTB may be markers for studying conservation genetics and population genetics.
