try. For many posts in Spanish America native speakers of English are preferred provided they also know Spanish well enough to confer with students and to live comfortably in a Spanishspeaking atmosphere. Furthermore, the techniques for teaching English as a second language are similar to those for teaching Spanish in the United States. Married couples may often secure positions in the same city and perhaps in the same school. Families with young children may encounter financial and living problems, but servants are to be found in a number of countries and the experience of living abroad helps make the children bilingual. Except for those who are United States employees, the salary scale is lower than at home but so is the cost of living. Only in Venezuela are living costs higher than in the United States.

Intrinsically it is but a barren, war-torn rock, hallowed as are so many other places by death and disaster. Yet it symbolizes within itself that priceless, deathless thing, the honor of a nation. Until we lift our flag from its dust, we stand unredeemed before mankind. Until we claim again the ghastly remnants of its last gaunt garrison, we can but stand, humble suppliants, before Almighty God. There lies our Holy Grail.
