Early detection of type II Diabetes Mellitus with random forest and classification and regression tree (CART)

Mira Kania Sabariah; S. T. Aini Hanifa; M. T. Siti Sa'adah

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is the third deadliest disease in Indonesia, and type II DM is more dangerous because it is caused by the combination between genetic and lifestyle factors. The high rate of patients infected with type II DM is caused by late diagnosis, therefore, early detection of disease is necessary to classify the detected patients with type II diabetes mellitus, and undetected patients. Moreover, analyzing the determinant and major attributes are highly recommended. In this research is implemented the combined Classification methods between Regression Tree method (CART) and Random Forest (RF) to build the classification model that is used in the early detection of diabetes mellitus type II disease. Those methods are selected based on the characteristics of the dataset used in medical records that consist of complex attributes consisting of several categorical attributes and continuous attributes, besides the advantages of the CART models are easy to implement, and it can explore the structure of complex medical records, while the RF method can handle the problem in accuracy. This research has tested a different number of trees and numbers of candidate attributes splitter. Based on the test results, it shows that the addition of trees and attributes splitter can improve the accuracy and reduce the error rate, with the optimal inputs are 50 numbers of trees and 3 number of attributes splitter with 83,8% average accuracy. The important attribute of early detection of diabetes mellitus type II is heredity, age, and body mass index.

Modelling the user interface design pattern for designing Islamic e-commerce website using user centered design

David Mushthofa; Mira Kania Sabariah; Veronikha Effendy

Indonesia is a country that has a majority Muslim population. Consequently, Islamic law becomes an inseparable element in the daily life of the society, including the lifestyles of Muslim consumers in shopping. In general, a Muslim consumer must pay attention to the selected products in order to avoid neither things that are forbidden by Allah nor excessive behavior. Meanwhile, the trend of online shopping in Indonesia tends to increase every year. It definitely affects the former shopping behavior from direct visit to the store into indirect transaction through online shops via the internet. Muslim consumers are starting to buy products from online shops or e-commerce. In fact, Muslim consumers find problem in finding information about halal product, especially for processed meat and imported products. In addition, they also rarely have access to bargain price given in e-commerce sellers. In some e-commerce providers, several products also contain pork and alcohol, which are obviously prohibited by Islamic law. The existence of credit card payment methods also contains usury (riba). In general, user interface in e-commerce faces several constraints repeatedly experienced by user. Therefore, this study initiates the User Interface Design (UID) pattern to handle the problems in order to define concrete design solutions and to solve specific design problems on the e-commerce website design. The process of UID pattern divulged the needs and behaviors of users when performing Sharia-based shopping in e-commerce website. Furthermore, the design method of User Centered Design (UCD) was employed to know the user perspective toward a product, in terms of the needs, habits, and user experience in using a product. The result of this research is a prototype for Islamic e-commerce that has positive responses from users. The user testing was done using the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ). The result described several factors such as Attractiveness, Perspicuity, Efficiency, Dependability, and Stimulation that have values exceeded from UEQ Scale neutral value. This research also generated UID pattern Islamic e-commerce website that supports the sharia-based shopping behavior of Muslim consumers in Indonesia.Indonesia is a country that has a majority Muslim population. Recommendation of Information Architecture Design on Higher Education Institution Website Using Card Sorting Approach on Goal-Directed Design Method

Mira Kania Sabariah

From the beginning of its discovery, website has been improving its function, one of which is as publication media. Also in the world of education, most of higher education institution employ the website to publish their school and to offer related information to their user. However, many disputes come to the user when using the website due to lack of both usability standard and information architecture design. Thus, this research focuses on a standard of information architecture design which is user-oriented to improve 5 aspects of website usability of the institution. Card sorting is used to arrange the information architecture in line with user expectation while goal-directed design functions to design user interface based on user’s goal. The conducted test is Usability Test which has formerly been undertaken on the research. The usability value of students and their parents who use higher education institution website designed by Card Sorting Method can be improved to 71.2% which is higher than the average standard. That is means, user involvement in defining the information architecture is very important for website usability can be achieved.

Rekomendasi User Interface untuk Aplikasi Mobile Seleksi Mahasiswa Baru (SMB) Telkom Menggunakan Metode Goal Directed Design

Mira Kania Sabariah; I Nyoman Denis; Dawam Dwi Jatmiko
