Design and implementation of a hardware-in-the- loop simulator for a semi-automatic guided missile system

Krešimir Ćosić; Ivica Kopriva; Todor Kostić; Miroslav Slamić; Marijo Volarević

Abstract Hardware in the loop (HIL) simulation based on modern digital signal processors is a cost-effective technology for the design and evaluation of various sophisticated weapon and industrial systems. In this article a HIL simulation is presented through the very complex problem of modernisation of the semi-automatic command to line of sight (SACLOS) missile system. The presented examples illustrate the importance of the HIL simulation technology for the cost-effective, non-destructive prototype development of such SACLOS systems. The key role of a flexible simulation platform consisting of 4 TMS320C40 digital signal processors for efficient real-time simulation of the implemented SACLOS subsystem models is also emphasised in this paper.

Croatian Qualification Framework - data model and software implementation in higher education

Zeljko Kovacevic; Mladen Mauher; Miroslav Slamić

Project „Politehnika 2025” was started by Tehničko veleučilište u Zagrebu in cooperation with APIS IT, IN2 GRUPA and SPAN companies. The goal was to analyze future market needs until year 2025 and to upgrade existing and to develop new study programs that would modernize polytechnic studies. Project success depended on collecting and analyzing a large amount of data, and to do that it was required to develop appropriate information system. That included to create a conceptual database model and later to write applications that would allow all project participants to work with data. The goal of this paper is to describe database model and its parts, all applications used in the process of gathering and reviewing data and their features. Information system was one of the key elements of the project since without it the project would not be able to complete in desired period and its results may be prone to errors.

Combat & Security Related Modeling and Simulation in Croatia

Krešimir Ćosić; Miroslav Slamić

This paper describes R&D efforts undertaken in last ten years in Croatia at the University of Zagreb and some other institutions in design and development of state-of-the-art combat and security-related educational and training simulators. This overview starts with a conceptual description of individual and crew training simulators for antitank guided missiles, low attitude air defense missiles and MIG-21BIS fighter aircraft. Design and development concept of hardware-in-the-loop simulators for real time testing of newly developed digital signal processing guidance and control system is also presented. The discussion is continued with design and development of high resolution tactical simulations and operational aggregated combat simulations. Finally, the paper presents a theoretical approach applied to the modeling and simulation of national power and national security.

Fixed-viewpoint representation of synthetic environment for the low-cost industrial and military simulators

Miroslav Slamić; Ivo Penzar; Jadranko Stjepanivić

This paper discusses the possibilities of environment visualization process simplifications, without reducing the image quality. Its primary focus include fixed-observer situations, such as in gunnery or air traffic control simulators. For such situations, raster photography of the real terrain is used as a background, and artificial objects are superposed on it. An application like this can run either standalone or networked, on single or multiple screen PCs with two- and/or three-dimensional graphics accelerators.
