Intelligent network call model for broadband ISDN

The call model, a basic IN (intelligent network) architecture element to express the IN call control information, is very important in allowing service providers to develop advanced communication services easily and rapidly. Both IN and broadband ISDN (B-ISDN) are significant technologies for future communication networks. A call model which incorporates B-ISDN call control and feature interaction control is described.<<ETX>>

A new handover method for next generation mobile communication systems

The next generation mobile communication systems, such as the International Mobile Telecommunication-2000 (LMT-2000), will introduce new technologies and services including broadband communications, soft-handovers, micro/pico cell architecture, and multicall/connection services. In this paper, we first clarify the impact of these new technologies and services on handover performance. We then propose a new handover method, in which the handover connection setup process is divided into the network connection setup and the radio connection setup parts, with the former taking place before a handover request by predicting the next cell.

An ATM switching software using CTRON with distributed processing support function

A description is given of the basic idea for ATM switching software using CTRON. It has a three-layer, object-oriented software architecture with distributed processing support function. The authors describe how to implement the architecture.<<ETX>>
