Abstract Two new flavonol glycosides, kaempferol 3-rhamnoside-4′-xyloside and kaempferol 3-rhamnoside-7-xyloside along with kaempferol, isorhamnetin and quercetin have been identified from the fruits of Chenopodium ambrosioides . Their structures were established using spectroscopic and chemical evidence.

Abstract A new biflavonoid, podocarpusflavanone, has been isolated from Podocarpus taxifolia and identified by chemical and spectral data as I-4′,I-5,II-5-trihydroxy-II-4′,I-7,II-7-trimethoxy-I-2,3-dihydro-[I-3′,II-8]biflavone along with other biflavonoids. The distribution of biflavonyl pigments in eight Podocarpus species is outlined.

Mixing behavior of anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) with cationic hydrotropes aniline hydrochloride (AH), o-toluidine hydrochloride (o-TH), and p-toluidine hydrochloride (p-TH) have been studied using conductivity at different temperatures. Critical micelle concentration for different mixing mole fractions, their ideal values, and different interaction parameters have been estimated. All the parameters show nonideal behavior with synergistic interactions. Thermodynamic parameters are also calculated for these systems.

Taiwaniaflavone (3,3′-linked biapigenin)(1) and its methyl ethers [(2) and (3)] isolated from the leaves of Taiwania cryptomerioides Hayata (Taxodiaceae) have been identified on the basis of spectral data and by synthesis of taiwaniaflavone methyl ethers [(5) and (29)]. Five known biflavones [(7), (8), (9), (10), and (11)] have also been isolated from the same plant.

Abstract The present investigation involves the synthesis of a series of novel green ethylene oxide-linked diester-functionalized cationic gemini surfactants 2,2′-[(oxybis(ethane-1,2-diyl))bis(oxy)]bis(N-alkyl-N,N-dimethyl-2-oxoethanaminium) dichloride (Cm-DEG-Cm; m = 12, 14, 16). These compounds were characterized by 1H-NMR, MS-ESI (+), FT-IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis; their solution properties were evaluated by surface tension and rheology measurements. The dimeric surfactant, Cm-DEG-Cm, possesses improved physicochemical properties as compared to its monomeric counterpart. Much lower critical micelle concentration (cmc) makes the cationic gemini surfactants more useful for the biomedical, pharmaceutical, industrial and academic sectors. Longer the alkyl chain of surfactants lower are the cmc values, the order is C16-DEG-C16 < C14-DEG-C14 < C12-DEG-C12. For all the three synthesized gemini surfactants no cloud point was noticed in between the temperatures 0 °C to 100 °C at the concentrations 0.002 mM, 0.02 mM and 0.2 mM of the aqueous surfactant solutions which is a beneficial factor for the use of these amphiphiles in various areas of application.
