Low-carbon community (LCC) has recently attracted attention of many researchers and tackled the government attention from various countries, which ones may give different interpretations on the concept. Thus, awareness of low carbon behavior among residents should be accurately measured. But first, residents’ need to have a thorough understanding of what is the real definition of low-carbon awareness and behavior. This paper proposed an analysisof low-carbon awareness and low-carbon behavior concepts. We first divide the types of residents’ low-carbon main concepts into two categories; low carbon awareness and low carbon behavior through which the components to each category are identified. Then we provide a systematic comparison of allthree most frequently mentioned components in low-carbon awareness including low-carbon value, low-carbon attitude, low-carbon knowledge and finallyabout low-carbon behavior.The residents’ low-carbon awareness-behavior gap will then beingidentified and discussed.Finally, differences and similarities among the two residents’ concepts have been summarized.

This paper will focus on experimental investigation to observe the effects of different densities and additives on the thermal properties of foamed concrete by means of Hot Disk Thermal Constant Analyzer, so as to obtain a few fundamental thermal properties for prediction of its fire resistance performance. For this study, samples of three different densities of 700kg/m3, 1000kg/m3 and 1400kg/m3 and various additives were investigated to study the effects of densities and additives on the thermal properties of foamed concrete. The additives used in this research were pulverized fuel ash (PFA), silica fume, palm oil fuel ash (POFA), wood ash, polypropylene fibre, steel fibre and coir fibre. It should be pointed out that the lowest density of foamed concrete (700kg/m3) has provided best thermal insulation properties due to large amount of pores and high percentage of air entrapped because air is poorest conductor of heat than solid and liquid. Also, foamed concrete with coir fibre achieved lowest thermal conductivity because it possess high heat resistance due to its large percentage of hemicellulose and lignin and exhibited high heat capacity as well due to the formation of uniform pores and voids in foamed concrete.

Public participation in landscape planning and design in Malaysia is in its beginning stage. Despite efforts made by researchers, public participation in landscape planning and design facing various issues, viewed by urban designers, landscape architects and scholars with numerous degree of unsuccessfulness. The objective of the study was to examine the applicable public participation technique that might solve the existing issues and weaknesses of public participation in landscape planning and design.Datuk Keramat Lake Garden was selected as a case study. Instruments employed were semi-structured interviews of an expert.The experts who involved in public participation in landscape planning and design have been interviewed to obtain their opinions about the existing public participation in Kuala Lumpur. The most important contributions of the study are related to highlight a better technique of participation technique to be incorporated into landscape development process in Malaysia as well as a tool for achieving a better quality living for people.

Human welfare is increasingly affected by the climate change impacts where more scientific evidence has pointed to a significant human contribution as the most contributing factors. Lately, the concept of ‘carbon-capability’ has been proposed recently to get the relative meanings related to carbon and individual power and enthusiasm to cut emissions. Thus, this paper aims to present a review ofthe theoretical framework and identifies the need for more specific components underlying the community carbon-capability. This study analyzes by using content analysis and based in part on related earlier study. The paper concludes thatcommunity carbon-capability frameworks ability to help in reducing climate change impactsand highlighted the vital to understanding community engagement with overall climate change issues in Malaysia.

Heritage culture and building in Penang have become among value asset in Malaysia. George Town inner cities most treasure architecture are located and can divided into several zone, it culture has been moulded by the succession of civilization that arrive and shaped its urban growth. Heritage building in the inner city exposes the sense of compromise between the pioneers, earlier settlers and later immigrants. The significant heritage character of George Town, Penang is reflect upon the predominant pre war buildings, the heritage buildings dates back to between late eighteen century and early nineteenth century. This paper will consider on Penang as World Heritage City, the conservation of the buildings in Penang and also legal provision related to conservation of heritage buildings in Penang.

This paper analysis the effects of indoor air elements on the dissatisfaction of occupants in education of environments. Tries to find the equation model for increasing the comprehension about these affects and optimizes satisfaction of occupants about indoor environment. Subsequently, increase performance of students, lecturers and staffs. As the method, a satisfaction questionnaire (SQ) and measuring environment elements (MEE) was conducted, 143 respondents at five classrooms, four staff rooms and five lectures rooms were considered. Temperature, air velocity and humidity (TVH) were used as independent variables and dissatisfaction as dependent variable. The hypothesis was tested for significant relationship between variables, and analysis was applied. Results found that indoor air quality presents direct effects on dissatisfaction of occupants and indirect effects on performance and the highest effects fallowed by temperature. These results may help to optimize the quality of efficiency and effectiveness in education environments.

This study focuses on indoor air quality and its influence to the healthy of the occupiers and in this case study identified the dissatisfaction level among the respondents in the education environments. Air velocity, temperature, and relation humidity were investigated using a device and then the analysis is correlate with the satisfaction level of the respondents. Using the analysis of regression, the impact of these three items on the dissatisfaction of students, staff, and lecturer were estimated. It is known that temperature and wind speed have the greatest impact on dissatisfaction level. The study also identified the sick building syndrome among the raspondents namely among students, staffs, and lecturers which found that medium risk of sick building syndrome were found between the respondents. The study identified that the sick buildings symptoms tended to disappear after the participants leave their office, classroom and the buildings.

This paper explains parts of the findings from the overall research entitled Landscape Alteration in Urban Residential Area of Malaysia. It focuses on the spiritual aspect existed in some of the gardens in the neighbourhood. A qualitative research method has been adopted in this research. The study informs on the aspect that was believed to have been totally diminished among the local residents; giving another insights of the meaning and values of the residents alternate garden.Keywords: residential garden, spiritual value, cultural landscape

This article is about evaluating the easy mobility in selected KL busy market places for understanding the potential of these places for disabled’s to work there independently. In this subject, mobility and safety are the tree main categories for disables to go out. Interview and observation are two methods which have been used, then supported them with photos. The results show there are many weaknesses for making the marketing places disables friendly. There are many famous and traditional marketing areas in KL which they can give opportunity to disables to start their own business. Therefore, they should define new standards to do some renovation and make new maintained schedule to give more chance to disables for starting their own independent life.

Roof garden can be used as natural environment in an urban setting. Rooftop agriculture with green roof systems can become an attractive possibility. The aesthetic value of green roofs is considered important in cities where roof escapes are dominated by gray color and unattractive structures. The instant objective of this research was to examine on question: What is the resident’s preference of awareness regarding urban agriculture at rooftop garden The purpose of this study is to understand the resident’s preference of awareness regarding urban agriculture at rooftop garden. The awareness and potential of rooftop urban agriculture are examined. In this research a method presented quantitative - survey questionnaire distributed among of residents in The Heritage condominium in Selangor and Sri Putramas 2 in Kuala Lumpur. The result is expected to lead towards cognition and awareness to elevate sustainable building and promoting the usage of urban agriculture at rooftop gardening residential building. In conclusion of this research contain the result of survey questionnaire that related to awareness of urban agriculture at rooftop garden who residents take part in the survey are agree with this section. Furthermore, this study help to residents for receive a perfect environmental in their live area.
