Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to identify the significant corporate social responsibility (CSR) issues and to analyze the interaction among them in order to improve supply chain performance (SCP) system of an organization. Design/methodology/approach – To achieve the objective, a preference rating approach (synthesized in company preference rating (CPR) and company satisfaction assessment (CSA) approaches) has been used in two stages as: stage 1, relative importance rating (RIR) of identified issues has been computed using CPR approach. For this, preference graphs have been developed based on the field expert’s opinions using graph-theory-based representation technique. In stage 2: competitive priority ratings of CSR issues with respect to competitive strategies have been calculated using CSA approach. Findings – Based on RIRs (stage 1), it has been noticed that issue namely “social benefits for employees” is more desirable among all considered issues. In stage 2, based on competitive priority ra...

In the present scenario, information technology (IT) is the most important concern for the existence of a company in the competitive market. This paper provides an approach to determine the impact of various alternatives on the performance of IT enabled supply chain. In order to evaluate the alternatives namely (top management support, IT advancement, and supply chain integration) on the behalf of performance improvement in IT enabled supply chain, an analytic hierarchy process (AHP)-based model is proposed. It provides the decision methodology to give a ranking order of these alternatives, to improve the supply chain performance. The finding suggests that among the above three alternatives, top management support can play a very important role in improving performance of the supply chain.

From last few decades, logistics management (LM) constitutes a global concern among organization’s supply chain (SC) to improve their business effectiveness. The purpose of this paper is to uncover and analyze the critical factors (CFs) related to the implementation of effective LM concept and benchmark the SC performance.,The most common (16) CFs were identified and selected through literature and use of the Delphi method. Subsequently, the selected most common CFs were analyzed to distinguish their causal relations using the fuzzy Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) technique under unclear surroundings. A case example of Indian Logistics Company is also discussed to reveal the practical applicability of the research.,Provision of the effective information communication and technological developments in the system and Management dedication, support and involvement CFs are found to have the top most influences in the effective implementation of LM. This paper also groups the CFs into cause and effect relationship which provides valuable insights for analyzing the factors in successful implementation of LM.,This work attempts to understand the different CFs, their relative position and the importance rating in the system, due to which, managers can differentiate the factor which greatly affects the concepts of implementing LM, and thus, improvements can be made accordingly.,First, this work offers 16 CFs to LM implementation from a SC scenario. Second, in the context of contributing to the theory, the combined Delphi and fuzzy DEMATEL-based model is provided that helps in managing the logistic related issues effectively.

To achieve a high reputation, in the competitive market place, organisations are trying to implement CSR strategies along with their supply chain business functions. The objective of this research is to identify and analyse the significant CSR challenges with an aim to improve the SCP of automobile industry located at NCR of India. To achieve the objective, seven CSR challenges have been considered and analysed using preference rating approach. In order to make analyses more robust, a decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) approach has also been used to suggest implementable strategies for improvements in SCP. The results indicate that the CSR challenge ‘narrow perception towards CSR initiatives’ holds first rank through achieving highest importance rating (1.0000), highest prominence (6.3194) and highest relation (1.0834) value, among other considered challenges. The findings of this research may help mangers in CSR based decisions-making processes for improving the SCP of their organisation.

ABSTRACT The objective of this research was to identify Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) criteria as well as propose and prioritise the alternatives to improve the supply chain performance system of an organisation. To meet the objective, firstly, CSR-based criteria, sub-criteria and alternatives were identified based on the literature review and discussion with the field experts, taken from automobile industries located at the Delhi region of India. Then, kappa statistics has been applied to check the internal consistency between identified criteria and sub-criteria. After finding the evidence of internal consistency, a hierarchical-type model has been developed and analysed using a multi-criteria decision-making as an integrated fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and a fuzzy technique for order performance by similarity to the ideal solution (TOPSIS) approach. To make the results more robust and feasible, a sensitivity analysis has also been performed.

During this competitive environment, the behaviour of market is changing abruptly and generating interference for industries, to sustain their stability in the market place. Therefore, most of all industries are in race to improve their supply chain performance (SCP) system. The objective of this research is to develop relationship among the considered barriers of SCP system. To achieve the objective, fifteen barriers have been considered and analysed using kappa statistics and interpretive structural modelling (ISM) approach, to understand the mutual relationship among them. The analysis reveals that barriers namely: insufficient focus on customers and competitors, lack of visibility of true customer demand, lack of collaborative relationships, lack of relevant performance measures and less accurate information are the desired output, those should be strongly emphasised in order to achieve a better SCP. The findings of this research may enable managers to make accurate strategies-based decisions through driving and dependence power of considered barriers, for an effective implementation of SCP system.
