Um estudo da cadeia de valores com a utilização da análise fatorial

The objective of this study was to evaluate the importance that companies give to all variables that create value chains as contributors to the competitive advantage of the companies and its relation with supply chain management. In this way a field research was made along with main executives of companies that direct or indirectly interact with aspects related to these variables. These were defined as the ones which create Porters value scale (1985). Data were obtained from a sample of convenience formed by 100 companies, reaching 62% feed-back. The statistic analysis was developed based on descriptive statistical and multivariate data analysis, specifically factor analysis technique. The results show that there was a movement of variables grouped accordingly Porter (1985), as part of primary activities towards support tasks. Besides, two factor or component principals were identifies, named strategic management and logistics and operations, which lead to the supposition that supply chain has a significant importance in this process. However, technology development and acquisition have contributed less then the other variables.

Adoção de inovações tecnológicas na área de saúde: um estudo sobre sistemas de informação sob a ótica da teoria de difusão

This paper identifies some factors which contribute for the adoption of a Technological Innovation (Systems of Information) in the health area and also identifies the way some internal groups are acting towards the adoption (and use) or rejection of a technological innovation. It has researched into an Electronic Patient Record system in an Emergency Ward and a Teaching Support System by Web in a Medicine College. Two pieces of field qualitative research have been carried out through adopting the technique of exploratory nature, conducted by interviews-in-depth with the main managers and key-users which influence the adoption of the innovation. The research outcome indicates (among other aspects), that the channels used for spreading innovation, for spreading the performance of change providers agents and the preparation for change are aspects that definitely determine the adoption of information systems in the health area.

Estratégias competitivas na área da saúde no Brasil: um estudo exploratório

This is an exploratory study and its main objective was to evaluate strategies adopted in the Brazilian health care sector. It was developed under a quantitative sample based on application of a structured questionnaire with questions determined on a Likert model. Based on a probabilistic sample selected among people that have health care plans in Sao Paulo city the research had the objective to identify competitive advantages that usually have more influence in the chosen process of Health Maintenance companies by consumers. Multivariate and descriptive statistics techniques were used and the study concluded that Agility, Attendance, Brand, Pioneers and Size of the company would be the most important factors. This article discusses the theory about strategy, competitive advantage, sources of competitive advantage and sustainability of the competitive advantages. It also includes the methodology procedures, the results and the limitations and recommendations for future studies. Considering the new rules for health care business and how these modifications are reflecting on the competitive scenario this study have discussed strategic questions that should be reevaluated in the future.

Estratégia de fusões e aquisições: eficácia na expansão das plataformas de produtos em empresas de autopeças

The present study analyses the relation between the strategy of mergers and acquisitions and the increasing of platform of products in the auto part companies installed in Sao Paulo. The focus of this study consisted of verifying if F&A strategy would have been effective in the desired magnifying of the platform of products in the auto part companies. An exploratory study was lead from primary sources through the collection of data obtained in the depth interviews to the main executives of the searched companies. After the collection, treatment, analysis and interpretation of the data the research indicated at a first moment a trend of proving and not refuting the hypothesis formulated in the beginning of this work which considers strategy of merger and acquisitions effective for magnifying platform of products in the auto part companies.

Como pequenas empresas de tecnologia constroem sua base de conhecimento para o desenvolvimento de produtos inovadores

It is from the knowledge base of an organization where creativity and ideas for new products will flow. This knowledge base supports the innovative capacity of the firm. But how small technology companies begin their activities, build their knowledge base and innovate? Answering these questions is the main objective of this research, a descriptive exploratory study conducted in three small technology companies that have gone through the incubation process. Analysis and interpretation of the data was used the technique of content analysis from the responses obtained through semi-structured interviews with the creators of the firms business. The results showed that the construction of the knowledge base of the three firms, influenced the transfer model used in technological parks where academic scientists conceive ideas laboratory through R & D and develop them into real products.

Competitive advantages alliances under the web usage

This work identifies the predominant usage of the internet by information technology companies based in Brazil, in relation to business partnerships and the possibility of obtaining competitive advantages with this use. The theoretical review indicates that the companies use the web for both transactions and communication. In the first case, this increases efficiency. In the second, it offers diverse uses. The review also shows that such advantages may be obtained whether the web is the principal business driver or not. As such, this work addresses the profile of web use in order to answer the following question: Is the use of the web in relationships a source of competitive advantage for companies in the IT segment participating in alliances? Descriptive, factorial statistics and ANOVA were utilised, and the results show that the predominant use of the web is concentrated in communications, which denotes the characteristic of a support tool that this technology assumes for these companies more than as a driver for obtaining advantages. This questions some theoretical views that state that the adoption of this technology is a condition for company survival in the market.

Aliança estratégica entre instituições de ensino superior: gerando mestrados e doutorados interinstitucionais

As Instituicoes de Ensino Superior (IES) precisam estar atentas as rapidas mudancas economicas, politicas, sociais e culturais ocorridas no mundo globalizado e tambem flexiveis para a possibilidade de inovarem seus processos e servicos, favorecendo as chances de vantagem competitiva. Para acompanhar estas mudancas, as empresas procuram investir em treinamentos e capacitacoes. Apesar da acentuada expansao de cursos de graduacao e de pos graduacao ocorrida no Brasil, nota-se que este avanco ainda nao e suficiente e nem atende as necessidades da maioria das regioes brasileiras. Nesse cenario, surgem os Mestrados e Doutorados Interinstitucionais, que buscam capacitar profissionais e criarem ou expandirem centros de pesquisas em regioes geograficas menos favorecidas. Sendo assim, busca-se verificar como ocorrem as aliancas entre IES; conhecer os principais beneficios advindos destas aliancas para as instituicoes envolvidas; identificar os mestrados e doutorados interinstitucionais que estao ocorrendo no Brasil na area de Administracao. Para tanto, realizou-se uma pesquisa, de carater exploratorio. Os resultados apontam que o estabelecimento de parcerias interinstitucionais e util para as IES, na medida em que favorece compartilhamento e criacao de conhecimentos, agregando, assim, valor de inovacao no mercado educacional. Ademais, detectou-se que estao ocorrendo no Brasil nove Dinters e tres Minters em Administracao. Palavras-chave: Aliancas Estrategicas. Mestrados e Doutorados Interinstitucionais. Administracao.

Inovação tecnológica e obtenção de vantagens competitivas: um estudo duplo qualitativo na indústria brasileira de equipamentos eletro-médicos

Varios estudos indicam que inovacoes levam a competitividade. Baseado nessa justificativa, este trabalho procurou entender as relacoes entre inovacao tecnologica e competitividade presentes na industria de equipamentos eletro-medicos e determinar quais os possiveis fatores que influenciam essas relacoes. Realizaram-se duas pesquisas de campo com metodologias de pesquisa de natureza qualitativa e exploratoria: a primeira baseada na tecnica de Grounded Theory e a segunda, na analise de conteudo. As analises dos dados da primeira pesquisa apontaram as evidencias de uma teoria que relaciona a importância da inovacao na cadeia produtiva como meio de conquistar competitividade. A segunda pesquisa identificou os seguintes fatores que exercem influencia sobre essa relacao: estrategias empregadas para inovar; condicoes ambientais externas favoraveis a inovacao; estimulos geradores de inovacao e influencia das condicoes internas sobre a geracao de inovacao. Estes fatores convergem para a obtencao dos beneficios esperados pelos fabricantes para a inovacao, que, por sua vez, evolui para a obtencao de vantagens competitivas. O estudo mostrou que e viavel a hipotese de que os fabricantes se apoiam em inovacoes tecnologicas para conquistarem vantagens competitivas.

Information Technology Management Styles Under the Prism of the Telecommunications Sector

In times of high competitiveness between companies, the value of information becomes an important component for executives to make timely decisions to react to adversities of the environment. The use of a system based on information management can provide advantages in decision making. Concomitantly the use of Information Technology by companies has spawned the appearance of various styles in relation to IT management. For a better understanding of the IT concept and its management styles, this work makes use of the single case research method, focusing on a company operating in the telecommunications market. The objective is to characterize the concept of IT, as well as some of its peculiarities. Finally, it confirms that IT management can show how much the information can be treated as an important resource for the company to stay competitive in the market. According to the testimony of those interviewed, it is clear that Motorola in Brazil may be at a great disadvantage in relation to its competition, in relation to the management of an IT infrastructure platform able to contribute to the migration process from a feudal information management style to one that is federalist. In view of this limitation, and although not purchased outside, internal solutions are created and contribute to the formation of an imbalance between the dominance of the user and the dominance of IT.

THE STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT BETWEEN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ANDBUSINESS AREAS: A STUDY IN BRAZILIAN STATE BANK

This study evaluated the perception of employees in the area of the Information Technology (IT), of a great Brazilian state bank, with respect to the strategies in this area of business units, in function of the strategic planning of the institution. The descriptive research, with quantitative method was conducted with a structured questionnaire. The social citizens were the professionals who occupy positions of management, coordination, analysis business-oriented and analyze of systems in the studied bank. The collected data were processed by STATISTICAL techniques, with SPSSe V13. The results were presented in the form of through factors that demonstrate the understanding that the staff of the IT company has in relation to business policies established by the administration for the institution. The results highlight, among others, the strategic alignment of the area of IT and technology strategies as factors that define the role of the area of IT to the business of the institution.
