Abstract About 13 800 K− captures in emulsion nuclei are studied to determine the (neutron/ proton) ratio on the surface of nuclei. All events with one or two black and grey prongs (Nh = 1 or 2) are analysed. The events are classified into Σ±π∓ and Σ−, no pion. The ratio (K−n/K−p)heavy/(K−n/K−p)light is found to be 2.9 ± 0.3. The ratio S = ( Σ + π − Σ − π + ) in heavy and light nuclei is found to be 1.3 ± 0.2 and 0.6 ± 0.1 respectively.
