Abstract Photolysis of phosphaalkenes leads to an inversion of polarity of the phosphorus carbon double bond and to a cleavage into transient phosphinidene and carbene ; unexpected alcoholysis of a P III -C bond and the [4+2] cycloaddition of a linear phosphaalkine on a diene are also reported.

Abstract Heating of tris(tertiobutyl)phenyldithiophosphorane gives rise to an isomer with a tetracoordinated phosphorus atom. The action of triphenylphosphine loads to a tricyclophosphathiane which can be transformed in diphosphene by an excess of triphenylphosphine. Reactions with various nucleophilic derivatives (pyridine, triethylamine, diethylamine, butylamine, water, tetraphenylarsonium chloride) are described.

Abstract Sterically protected tris(tertiarybutyl)phenylphosphine reacts with sulfur, giving rise to the corresponding sulphide which reacts further to produce bis[tris(tertiarybutyl)phenyl]trithiodiphosphinate. This last compound finally affords the first stable metadithiophosphonate.
Tetrahedron Letters | 1986

Abstract The reaction of diethylazodicarboxylate with tris(tert-butyl)phenylphosphine gives rise to a σ 3 , γ 5 - phosphorane. Evidence is given for the transient formation of a diazaphosphirldine derivative.

Abstract The chemical properties of the dihometaphosphonate analogue, tris(2,4,6-t-butyl)phenyldithb phosphorane (1), are reported in detail.
