Co-ordination of public vocational education with theJob Training Partnership Act☆

Abstract The federal purposes in vocational education and employment and training legislation are increasingly converging. State and local-level surveys indicate that most of the provisions in the current legislation designed to encourage joint planning and co-ordination of programs have been implemented. State administrators and council chairpersons for both systems feel that co-ordination is better under JTPA than it was under CETA. Local level JTPA administrators are also generally satisfied with their relationships with public vocational-technical programs. Public vocational institutions are estimated to have trained over half the JTPA title IIA participants assigned to classroom occupational training during the 1985 program year.
