Innovation, cooperation and business performance: Some evidence from Indonesian small food processing cluster

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is threefold: to understand the cooperation activities of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in food processing industry clusters; to understand the role of cooperation in improving innovation; and to understand the relationship between cooperation, innovation, and business performance of SMEs in food processing industry clusters in rural areas of Indonesia.Design/methodology/approach – An empirical survey was conducted on SMEs in food processing industry clusters. Primary data collected in five SMEs clusters were analyzed by regression and correlation analyses using the path‐analytic approach. LUTFHAN HADHI PRIAMBODO. Analysis Of Willingness to Pay For Organic Vegetables and Factors that Contributing (Case Study of Bogor, West Java). Supervised by MUKHAMAD NAJIB. The era of modernization and the increasing in GDP per capita have changed the consumer behavior of Indonesian people. Indonesian people realize the importance of healthy living by consuming organic vegetables. The increasing production cost as a result of improving product quality induced the selling price of organic vegetables in market. This research aims to identify customer characteristics who made a purchase on organic vegetables by using descriptive analysis, to estimate consumer willingness to pay (WTP) using Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) and to analyze factors that influence the Willingness To Pay using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with LISREL. The result of this research showed the mean of maximum WTP for cabbage commodity is Rp 18.738; lettuce is Rp 30.048; broccoli is Rp 40.250; chinese cabbage (bok choy) is Rp 24.368 and carrot is Rp 19.820. The attitude and obstacle effect on WTP is significant, while the effect of SES is not significant.

INVESTMENT POTENTIAL AND THE EFFECT OF FINANCIAL RATIOS STOCK RETURN IN MINING SECTOR IN ENVIRONMENT PRO STOCK INDEX AND SHARIA

Investment is an investing activity on a company of aimed to obtain the return. One of the interesting investments for investors is investing in the mining sector because of large amount of return obtained in a short time. Before choosing which stocks to be invested in the mining companies, investors need to look at the company performance to avoid the risk. The purposes of this study are to examine the investment potential and analyze the influence of financial ratios (CR, DER, EPS, ROE, TATO, ROA, PER, NPM) on stock returns in the mining sector. The object of this research is mining companies who are listed on index SRI-Kehati and Jakarta Islamic Index (JII) period 2010–2013 consistently. The method used was descriptive analysis to calculate Tobin‘s Q score to look at potential investments. Panel data regression analysis was conducted to see the effect of financial ratios to stock return. The results show that PTBA and MEDC have high investment potential from 2010–2013. Because the company’s Tobin‘s Q score acquired above 1 for four consecutive years, while the explanatory variables have a positive and significant effect on stock returns is CR, EPS, ROA, and PER. PTBA is the highest average score of CR, EPS, ROA, and PER compared to the other mining companies. Therefore, PTBA is the best choice of investment for investors, specifically in the mining sector.
