ANALYSIS OF THE PATIENTS TREATMENT OUTCOME ADMITTED IN THE PROVINCIAL TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL WITH RESPECT TO ANTIBIOTICS OMISSION ERRORS IN QUETTA CITY, PAKISTAN

Objective: The investigation of patient’s treatment outcome, death rate and errors of omission in antibiotics agents utilized in pediatric inpatients. Material and Methods: This was a retrospective analysis of admissions. The examination utilized information collected tentatively inside a 50-bed pediatric ward of Bolan Medical Complex Hospital, Quetta, Pakistan. The information was collected by the examination of patient admission /discharge register by ward Pharmacist from October 2016 to March 2017. The total 735 patient were conceded trough out the investigation span. Information was recorded in a data collection form and analyzed. The recurrence and rate were investigated by utilizing SPSS 22. Result: The total 735 patients were conceded all through the investigation, out of which 448 (60.95 %) were male and 287 (39.05%) were female and total medication administrations were 20095. Discharged/ improved were 531 (72.24%), Expired were 35 (4.74%), LAMA (left against medicinal advice) were 76 (10.34%), intravenous medication was stopped in 4 patients which was (0.54%), discharged on request 16 (2.17%), referred to other hospital 3 (0.40%) and still present in ward were 66 (8.79%). The omission errors in the antibiotic agents as follows; in ceftriaxone sodium was 4062 (20.21%), ampicillin+clavulanic acid 3179 (15.81%), streptomycin 29 (14.43%), vancomycin 1277 (6.35%) and cefepime 222 (1.10). Conclusion: The patient’s treatment outcome in pediatric ward of tertiary care was higher. One of the real reasons for mortality and morbidity might be omission errors.

Assessment of Health-Related Quality of Life among Hypertensive Patients of Loralai, Pakistan

Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the health related quality of life of patients suffering from hypertension attending government hospital (DHQ) Loralai, Pakistan. Methodology: A cross-sectional descriptive study that was conducted from December 2015 to August 2016 in the Government District Hospital (DHQ) Loralai, Pakistan. Convenient sampling method was used to collect data. A self-administrative pre validated slandered questionnaire, EQ-5D, was distributed and collected after completion. The data was computed and analysed using IBM SPSS V. 22. Descriptive analysis and inferential statistics were applied. Results: Three hundred and thirty one patients participated in the study. The mean age was 47.10 (+15.29) years. Majority of patients, 55.6 % (n=184), were men. The mean (SD) of duration of high blood pressure was 2.45 (± 1.2) years. Most of the patients 54.7% (n=181) had no income. Most of the patients (46, 13.9%) showed no difficulties in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th domain whereas some problems in the 5th domain. Age group, marital status and occupation showed significant difference. Conclusion: The results of the study confirmed that Health related aspects of life are adversely altered in high blood pressure. Health-care authorities should provide adequate health facilities to the public and maintain check and balance on the delivery of health care services. Nurse’s knowledge and Awareness Regarding Cervical Cancer and its Prevention in Different Hospitals of Quetta, Pakistan

Objective: This study aimed to assess the knowledge and awareness regarding cervical cancer and its prevention among nurses working in different hospitals of Quetta, Pakistan. Methodology: The cross sectional, descriptive study was conducted by using structured questionnaire in different hospitals of Quetta from January to September 2016. Convenient sampling technique was applied by targeting all the nurses working in different hospitals of Quetta city. Study questionnaire was developed and tested for validity and reliability. Descriptive and inferential statistics (Mann Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis tests, p<0.05) were used to assess the significance among study variables and were performed by using IBM SPSS v.20. Results: Out of 415 distributed questionnaires 324 were returned (response rate of 78%). The mean Age of respondents was 28.18 ±9.5 years. Majority (n=127, 43.3%) of participants were interns and had no or less than one year of experience (n=128, 43.7%) with negative family history of any cancer (n=275, 93.9%). Mean knowledge score was 18.52±4.84with majority (n=258, 88.1%) had adequate knowledge regarding cervical cancer. Respondent sage, current area of practice, qualification, Institute of degree and past family history were contributing factors (p > 0.05) in adequate knowledge in this study. The results also reviled that not only 68.3% (n=200) and 65.5% (n=192) respondents knew that cervical cancer is vaccine preventable and availability of the vaccine for it. Conclusions: Nurses working in different hospitals of Quetta city had better understanding of the disease cervical cancer and its prevention. Yet many of the respondent are not aware of it vaccine and its availability. Received: 19-112017

Assessment Of Patient'S Satisfaction With Pharmaceutical Services And Healthcare Facilities In Tertiary Care Hospitals Quetta, Pakistan

Patient satisfaction assessment is regarded as a major pointer of the quality of the pharmacy services patients received in the tertiary care hospitals Quetta. This study was set out to evaluate patient satisfaction with pharmaceutical services. The evaluation of various literatures supports the level of patient satisfaction in various studies. A critical but defective situation in healthcare is that patient satisfaction has not been taken seriously enough; patient satisfaction and patient trust demonstrate patient loyalty and satisfaction are directly linked to services, recommending the hospital and their willingness to pay the bill. A Cross sectional descriptive study led in tertiary care hospitals of Quetta to determine the patient satisfaction with pharmacist and pharmacy services. This study was done in different government hospitals in Quetta city of Pakistan. The prime results pf current study specified that persons with middle to low or no income were not pleased with pharmacy facilities. It designates that facilities related to exact medications, particularly their obtainability, information on side effects, storage, predictable consequences from the medicines and other were accountable for the lower level of satisfaction this was consistent with studies where they have similar response.
