[{Ru( η 6 -arene)Cl 2 } 2 ] ( η 6 -arene=benzene, p-cymene or hexamethylbenzene) reacts with EPh 3 (E=P, As or Sb) in methanol to give monomeric cationic arene hydrido complexes [Ru( η 6 -arene)(EPh 3 ) 2 H] + in presence of AgBF 4 or AgPF 6 . However, reactions in presence of triphenylphosphine also yield a symmetrically bridged tris ( μ -methoxy) complex [(PPh 3 ) 3 Ru( μ -OMe) 3 Ru(PPh 3 ) 3 ] + . The crystal structure of [Ru( η 6 -C 6 H 6 )(PPh 3 ) 2 H]BF 4 has been determined. Crystal data, monolinic system, space group P2 1/n , a =14.792 (2) A; b =14.351 (1) A; c =17.661 (2) A; β =102.25 (1)° and Z =4. Crystal structure determination reveals the distortion of the Ru(PPh 3 ) 2 H + unit in the cation [Ru( η 6 -C 6 H 6 )(PPh 3 ) 2 H] + .

In cis-[PdCl 2 (Ph 2 PCH 2 CH 2 PPh 2 )], the Pd atom is at the centre of an approximately square-planar arrangement of two P and two Cl atoms. The P−Pd−P angle is 88.3 (1)° and the two Pd−P distances are 2.284 (3) and 2.264 (3) A

Triorganoantimony(V) Schiff base complexes of the type R3SbL, where R = Ph, p-tolyl or Me and H2L are potentially tetradentate Schiff base ligands with ONNO donors, have been synthesised and characterised. The Schiff bases were obtained by the condensation of ethylenedimaine with acetylacetone (AcacenH2) or with o-hydroxyacetophenone (ohacenH2); propylenediamine with salicylaldehyde (SaltmH2) or with o-hydroxyacetophenone (ohactmH2) and o-aminophenol with glyoxal (GbapH2). Molecular weignt determination in benzene reveals the monomeric nature of these complexes. IR and NMR data suggest the presence of seven coordinated antimony in these complexes.

Abstract A series of triphenylantimony(V) derivatives of tribromo-, trichloro-, and pentachlorophenols and of bisphenols, viz., 2,2-bis,(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane and bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)sulfone, have been prepared and characterized by elementail analysis, conductance, molecular weight, infrared (IR) and proton magnetic resonance (PMR) spectroscopy, and thermal studies. IR studies reveal that all compounds have trigonal bipyramidal structure. A two step thermal decomposition was observed in these compounds in both nitrogen and air atmosphere leading to the formation of Sb metal (in nitrogen) and Sb2O3 (in air).

The hitherto unreported 1, 3, 2X5-benzoxazastibinines have been synthesised by sodium borohydride reduction of salicylideneaniline to N-(2-hydroxybenzyl)aniline and subsequent cyclisation of the disodium salt of the latter with R3SbBr2 (R = Ph, p-tolyl or mesityl) . These compounds have been characterised by elemental analyses, molecular weight determination, IR, far IR, 1H and ^C NMR and mass spectral data. INTRODUCTION Among the group 15 heterocycles the nitrogen heterocycles are well known as well as ring systems containing heavier group 15 heteroatoms(1). 1,3-Oxazine derivatives are of biological and pharmacological importance(2-7) and the introduction of phosphorus in the oxazine ring at the 2-position yields compounds which find applications in cancer research(8-11) . A few heterocycles containing N, As and Ο are also known(12-13) but only five-membered heterocycles containing N, Sb and 0 have been described (14-15). Thus we thought it to be of interest to synthesise six-membered heterocycles containing N, Sb and 0 as heteroatoms. EXPERIMENTAL Triarylantimony dibromides were prepared and purified by the methods reported in literature(16-19). Salicylideneaniline was obtained by the condensation of salicylaldehyde with aniline in ethanol(20) . N-(2-hydroxybenzyl)aniline was obtained by the reduction of salicyclideneaniline with NaBH^ in methanol by a reported method(21). Solvents and other chemicals were dried and purified before use. The purity of the samples was checked

Abstract Fatty acid derivatives of bis(acetylacetonato) titanate(IV) having the general formula Ti(acac)2 (-OOC-R)2, where acac is acetylacetonate anion and R = C17H35, C15H31, C13H27, or C11H23, have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, molecular weight and conductance measurements, infrared and 1H-nmr spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. A cis-octahedral structre has been proposed for these complexes. A one-step thermal decomposition was observed for these complexes leading to the formation of TiO2.
