INFLUENCE OF TOPOGRAPHICAL AND EDAPHIC FACTORS ON ROSE. II. FLOWERING QUALITY AND QUANTITY

Damask rose (Rosa damascena Mill.) clones were planted in research farm of CIMAP, Lucknow and CIMAP field station. Purura, Almora and Pantnagar, India. The flowering in Almora was observed in April, while in Lucknow and Pantnagar it was noticed in January–February and it is overall on average data of three consecutive years. The flower weight (3.1 g) and oil percentage (0.05%) was observed more in semi temperate climate conditions of Almora. Gas liquid chromatography visualize Rose-oxide (0.5%), Phenyl ethyl alcohol (11.8%), linalol (1.4%), l-citronellol (26.8%), nerol (5.4%), whereas geraniol content (18.3%) better one observed in the tropical cultivated R. damascena. The significant association was found in low temperature and oil % (r=0.98≤p=0.01) and rose oxide (r=0.87≤p=0.05). The negative significant correlation was in between geraniol and l-citronellol (−r=0.84≤p=0.01) of Almora cultivated rose plants and opposite correlation was obtained in Pantnagar and Lucknow cultivated clones.
