Structure and solubility of natural silk fibroin

E. S. Sashina; A. M. Bochek; N. P. Novoselov; D. A. Kirichenko

The solubility of silk fibroin in aqueous-salt, aqueous-organic, and organic media is analyzed. Factors affecting the formation of the secondary structural organization of fibroin in solutions and in the solid state after the recovery from solutions are analyzed.

A study of the thermodynamics of chitosan interaction with polyvinyl alcohol and polyethylene oxide by differential scanning calorimetry

E. S. Sashina; A. V. Vnuchkin; N. P. Novoselov

Chitosan/polyvinyl alcohol and chitosan/polyethylene oxide blend films were prepared by coagulation from solutions. The interaction energy density B and interaction parameter x12 of the components were estimated from the change in the melting point of the synthetic component in the blends.

Russian Journal of Applied Chemistry | 2003

Dissolution of Silk Fibroin in N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide and Its Mixtures with Organic Solvents

E. S. Sashina; N. P. Novoselov; K. Heinemann

Preparation of concentrated solutions of natural silk fibroin in N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide and its mixtures with protonic and aprotic solvents was experimentally studied. Solutions with the fibroin concentration of 6 wt % and more were prepared.

Russian Journal of Applied Chemistry | 2009

Study of a possibility of applying the films of the silk fibroin and its mixtures with synthetic polymers for creating the materials of contact lenses

E. S. Sashina; A. Yu. Golubikhin; N. P. Novoselov; E. S. Tsobkallo; M. Zaborskii; Ya. Goralskii

Light and gas permeability, antimicrobic and physico-mechanical properties are studied of the films from the mixtures of fibroin with the synthetic polymers.

Russian Journal of Applied Chemistry | 2007

Preparation and properties of films of fibroin-polyvinyl alcohol blends from solutions in hexafluoroisopropanol

E. S. Sashina; N. P. Novoselov; A. V. Vnuchkin; A. Yu. Golubikhin

The compatibility of fibroin with polyvinyl alcohol in blend films prepared from a common organic solvent, hexafluoroisopropanol, was studied by IR spectroscopy and DSC.

Russian Journal of General Chemistry | 2013

Kinetic studies of the copper-catalyzed cross-coupling of 1-phenyltetrazole-5-thiol and iodobenzene

U. N. Dmitrieva; T. V. Artamonova; Yu. E. Zevatskii; N. P. Novoselov; L. V. Myznikov

Kinetics of the copper-catalyzed cross-coupling of 1-phenyltetrazole-5-thiol and iodobenzene under thermal and dielectric heating has been studied; the kinetic parameters of the reaction have been calculated. Microwave irradiation has not influenced significantly the reaction molecular mechanism; the process acceleration can be due to macrokinetic effects.

Russian Journal of General Chemistry | 2012

Thermochemical study on the dissolution and regeneration of fibroin from solutions in imidazole-based ionic liquids

E. S. Sashina; A. Yu. Golubikhin; N. P. Novoselov

The enthalpies of dissolution of fibroin in imidazole-based ionic liquids were determined, and the contribution of polymer crystal structure decomposition to the enthalpy of dissolution was estimated. The heat of mixing of imidazole ionic liquid with water was described.

Russian Journal of Applied Chemistry | 2009

Silver nanoparticles on fibers and films of Bombyx mori silk fibroin

E. S. Sashina; O. I. Dubkova; N. P. Novoselov; J. J. Goralsky; M. I. Szynkowska; E. Lesniewska; W. Maniukiewicz; G. Strobin

Possibility of obtaining silver nanoparticles on fibers and films of silk fibroin was studied. A comparative assessment of the effect of reducing agents on the morphology and size of silver particles on the fiber surface was made.

Russian Journal of Applied Chemistry | 2006

Properties of films prepared from solutions of fibroin-cellulose blends in N-methylmorpholine N-oxide

E. S. Sashina; A. V. Vnuchkin; N. P. Novoselov

The physicomechanical properties and thermal stability of films prepared from solutions of fibroin-cellulose blends in N-methylmorpholine N-oxide were studied.

Base Hydrolysis and Use of Cationic Ammonium Dyes in Which the Chromophore System Is not Conjugated with the Nitrogen Atom

A. P. Mikhailovskaya; T. Yu. Dyankova; N. P. Novoselov

The capability of cationic dyes in which the onium group is not conjugated with the chromophore system to form aqueous dispersions in a weakly alkaline medium was examined. Such dyes can be fixed on a fiber in increased amounts owing to their binding not only in the cationic form but also in the hydrolyzed monomolecular form.
