The investigation of spectrum broadening of Cr4+:Mg2SiO4 (Cr:forsterite, Cr:F) laser in highly nonlinear dispersion-shifted optical fibers (HNLF) are presented. Besides, the laser spectrum was broadened in a dispersion-decreasing highly nonlinear dispersion-shifted optical fiber (HNLF DDF). The first results on spectrum broadening of Cr:forsterite laser in tapered HNLF with taper waist diameter of 2 mkm and length of 6 cm are presented

We report the first observation of self-frequency-shifted solitons in the silica/air-clad tapered fiber. Femtosecond tunable soliton generation with a spectral shift of wavelength up to 1127 nm has been demonstrated for 55-fs pump pulses at 805 nm.

In this paper, polarisation properties of super-continuum generated in silica/air-clad dual-core tapered fibres were experimentally investigated. The silica/air-clad tapered fibres with quasielliptical cross-section (the longer axis 3.4 /spl mu/m long, shorter axis 2 /spl mu/m) and 10-cm long waist was pumped with 80-fs pulses of a Ti:sapphire laser at the average power of 250 mW (wavelength 800 nm, repetition rate 81 MHz). At fixed polarisation of the Ti:sapphire laser measurements were conducted to quantify changes in the polarisation degree and spectra of the super-continuum.
