Herbal database management is one of the emerging trends nowadays. There are many agencies working on herbal database management. This system helps to overcome many adverse reactions of drugs and their interactions. The safety profile of an herbal is maintained in this database which is very useful for appropriate use of herbal medicine. Here, an attempt is done to enlist various herbal database management agencies and their applications toward the use of herbal drugs for the benefit of mankind.

Convergent synthesis in chemistry is an method of synthesis which mainly works with the aim of improving efficiency of multi step organic synthesis. It mainly helps in assymmetric synthesis, synthesis of natural products and synthesis of heterocyclic compunds of biological interest. In this review we attempt to bring the attention towards this method with its recent applications in synthetic organic chemistry and its future perspectives in relation to current pharmaceutical industries mainly working in relation to synthesis of biologically active nucleus

Depression is a serious medical issue characterized by a variety of debilitating symptoms, such as persistent sadness and anxiety, chronic fatigue, feelings of worthlessness, disturbances in cognitive functioning and thoughts and attempts of suicide (Ray et al., 2014). Depression has been determined to be the leading cause of disability and the 4th leading contributor to the global burden of disease and is characterized by relapse, recurrence and chronicity (Joanna et al., 2013). Antidepressants are the drugs used to treat depression thereby elevates mood and modifies the behavior. Half a century ago, antidepressants were discovered by serendipity (Benoit Petit et al., 2005). Current treatments for depression either fail to produce recovery or induce unwanted side effects. So there is still a large unmet clinical need (Vincent et al., 2010; Baghai et al., 2006; Slattery et al., 2004). The main aims in the development of new antidepressants were greater efficacy, absence of side effects, lack of toxicity in over dose and earlier onset of action (Eleni, 1997). Elaborate research work has been carried out in the past and continuing in the present to synthesize new International Journal of Current Microbiology and Applied Sciences ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 6 Number 2 (2017) pp. 1016-1023 Journal homepage: http://www.ijcmas.com
