Validity of the generalized second law of thermodynamics of the universe bounded by the event horizon in holographic dark energy model

Nairwita Mazumder; Subenoy Chakraborty

In this paper, we investigate the validity of the generalized second law of thermodynamics of the universe bounded by the event horizon in the holographic dark energy (DE) model. The universe is chosen to be homogeneous and isotropic and the validity of the first law has been assumed here. The matter in the universe is taken in the form of non-interacting two fluid system: one component is the holographic DE model and the other component is in the form of dust.

Does the validity of the first law of thermodynamics imply that the generalized second law of thermodynamics of the universe is bounded by the event horizon

Nairwita Mazumder; Subenoy Chakraborty

In this work we examine the validity of the generalized second law of thermodynamics of the universe with the event horizon as the boundary assuming the first law of thermodynamics. We consider a homogeneous and isotropic model of the universe, filled with perfect fluid having an arbitrary equation of state. We study the validity of the generalized second law both in Einstein and Einstein–Gauss–Bonnet (EGB) gravity.

The generalized second law of thermodynamics and the nature of the entropy function

Subenoy Chakraborty; Nairwita Mazumder; Ritabrata Biswas

In black-hole physics, the second law of thermodynamics is generally valid whether the black hole is a static or a non-static one. Considering the universe as a thermodynamical system the second law of black-hole dynamics extends to the non-negativity of the sum of the entropy of the matter and the horizon, known as generalized second law of thermodynamics (GSLT). Here, we have assumed the universe to be bounded by the event horizon where Bekenstein entropy-area relation and Hawking-temperature are not applicable. Thus considering entropy to be an arbitrary function of the area of the event horizon, we have tried to find the nature of the entropy function for the validity of the GSLT both in the quintessence era and in the phantom era. Finally, some graphical representation of the entropy function has been presented.

Validity of the generalized second law of thermodynamics of the universe bounded by the event horizon in brane scenario

Nairwita Mazumder; Subenoy Chakraborty

In this paper, we examine the validity of the generalized second law of thermodynamics of the universe bounded by the event horizon in brane-world gravity. Here we consider a homogeneous and isotropic model of the universe in the one case where it is filled with a perfect fluid and in another case where a holographic dark energy model of the universe has been considered.

FRW Cosmological Model with Modified Chaplygin Gas and Dynamical System

Nairwita Mazumder; Ritabrata Biswas; Subenoy Chakraborty

The Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) model with dynamical Dark Energy (DE) in the form of modified Chaplygin gas (MCG) has been investigated. The evolution equations are reduced to an autonomous system on the two dimensional phase plane and it can be interpreted as the motion of the particle in an one dimensional potential. Also the dynamical system analysis has been extended to examine the critical points at infinity with will exist provided the equation of state parameter
