Use of new sustain waveforms raised luminous efficacy by 2.5 times in a 9.8-inch AC-PDP with the Delta Tri-color Arrangement DelTA cell structure. A luminous efficacy of 3.5 lm/W at a luminance of 230 cd/m2 and at a sustain frequency of 5 kHz was achieved with a sufficient static margin.

Worlds first 42-inch full high-definition (FHD: 1920×1080) PDP has been developed. It is based on ALIS (Alternate Lighting of Surfaces) method[1] with single scan system. High aperture ratio of 61% is realized by ALIS cell structure and slim barrier ribs with a width of about two thirds of that of HD ALIS (1024×1024). High luminance of 1000 cd/m2 is achieved, and the dark room contrast ratio of 3000:1 is realized by the optimization of drive waveforms.
