The influence of the behaviors of layers upon their one united body: Wall clays for clay wall on bamboo lathing Part 3

Midori Yamada; Naoyuki Koshiishi

The use of clay walls on bamboo lathing less burdens on the environment, but it is necessary to confirm their properties in order to use this wall construction method more widely in safety. In this paper, fracture behaviors were observed, including full section sized specimen and element specimen which were loaded force. As a result of full section sized experiments, four types of behaviors as load-bearing elements could be found. As a result of element experiments, when all four types of elements bearing the load compare with one element, the initial stiffness improved, but the toughness decreased because of the delamination at the interface of layers weremarkedly happen.

The solution of lacks in strength and rigidity is required of conventional wooden frame construction. Newly developed bolt with drift-pins increases strength of beam with dovetail joint in above construction. By using dovetail joints, we can use almost similar method to conventional frame erection. Pipe substituted for tenon with drift-pins joins column to beam on account of continuous beam type. Newly developed software for CAD and CAM leads to drawing for precut, quality control and boring by machine under the discussion with structural designer. Test results of full sized joints show that above reinforcement gives above construction required strength in structural design.
