An integrative literature review was conducted to synthesize available publications regarding the potential use of serological tests in leprosy programs. We searched the databases Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde, Índice Bibliográfico Espanhol em Ciências da Saúde, Acervo da Biblioteca da Organização Pan-Americana da Saúde, Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online, Hanseníase, National Library of Medicine, Scopus, Ovid, Cinahl, and Web of Science for articles investigating the use of serological tests for antibodies against phenolic glycolipid-I (PGL-I), ML0405, ML2331, leprosy IDRI diagnostic-1 (LID-1), and natural disaccharide octyl-leprosy IDRI diagnostic-1 (NDO-LID). From an initial pool of 3.514 articles, 40 full-length articles fulfilled our inclusion criteria. Based on these papers, we concluded that these antibodies can be used to assist in diagnosing leprosy, detecting neuritis, monitoring therapeutic efficacy, and monitoring household contacts or at-risk populations in leprosy-endemic areas. Thus, available data suggest that serological tests could contribute substantially to leprosy management.

The study aimed to construct and validate an instrument to assess the leprosy actions control in primary care from the perspective of community health agents (CHA). This is a methodological study to validate instruments, based on the Classical Test Theory. The instrument was administered to 380 CHA of three municipalities in the state of Minas Gerais, in the period from July to December 2012. In the stage of face and content validity 17 items of the instrument were reduced. The factor analysis extracted eight factors that accounted for a percentage of 35.7% of the total variance. The principal components analysis allowed the elimination of eight items that showed no adaptation to the factors defined. The overall Cronbach alpha for the 57 items was 0.858.

Objective Developing an instrument to evaluate the performance of primary health care in the leprosy control actions, from the perspective of users and do the face and content validation. Method This is a methodological study carried out in four stages: development of instrument, face and content validation, pre-test, and analysis of test-retest reliability. Results The initial instrument submitted to the judgment of 15 experts was composed of 157 items. The face and content validation and pre-test of instrument were essential for the exclusion of items and adjustment of instrument to evaluate the object under study. In the analysis of test-retest reliability, the instrument proved to be reliable. Conclusion The instrument is considered adequate, but further studies are needed to test the psychometric properties.OBJECTIVE Developing an instrument to evaluate the performance of primary health care in the leprosy control actions, from the perspective of users and do the face and content validation. This is methodology development study. Its aim was to develop and validate an instrument to assess the performance of primary care services in leprosy control actions, according to managers’ perspective. We hope that this instrument will become a support tool for municipalities in the selfassessment stage of the National Program for Improving Primary Care Access and Quality. The first version of the instrument, which was developed through literature review, consisted of 172 items. Face and content validity assessment by 15 experts resulted in the exclusion of 34 items. The administration of the instrument pre-test to 31 managers of the municipality of Betim was essential for the reduction of 50 items. The final instrument has 88 items, as well as face and content validity. Further studies should be conducted to test the psychometric properties of the instrument.
