Une nouvelle espèce de Scapheremaeus (Arachnida, Acari, Oribatida, Cymbaeremaeidae) de Madagascar: Scapheremaeus pauliani n. sp.

Nestor A. Fernandez; Régis Cleva

Fernandez N. & Cleva R. 2010. — Une nouvelle espèce de Scapheremaeus (Arachnida, Acari, Oribatida, Cymbaeremaeidae) de Madagascar: Scapheremaeus pauliani n. sp. Zoosystema 32 (1): 101-115. ABSTRACT A new species of Scapheremaeus (Arachnida, Acari, Oribatida, Cymbaeremaeidae) from Madagascar: Scapheremaeus pauliani n. sp. Scapheremaeus pauliani n. sp. collected in the Chaînes Anosyennes (farthest south east of Madagascar) is described from the adult stase. This species, the first of the genus described from this region was collected by beating of Erica sp. (Ericaceae) and reaping of Helichrysum sp. (Asteraceae). The new species can be separated from the 88 species in the genus by the following set of characters: cerotegument of prodorsum rough; that of notogaster with smooth areas and ovoid-rounded reticula alternately; cerotegument of ventral side rough or with thickenings, presence of mushroom-like structures; prodorsum complex, with straight, transversal, and curved crests, and deep furrows; dorso-central area of notogaster flattened, delimited by a deep circumdorsal furrow; notogastral chaetotaxy: 10; lenticule bulging, rounded-ovoid, with lateral expansion; presence of a lateral bump between lenticule and c setae; lateral oblique lamellar expansion; genital chaetotaxy: 5; epimeral chaetotaxy: 3-1-2-2; preanal piece triangular.

Idiozetes malgache, a new species of idiozetidae (acari: oribatida) from madagascar

Regis Cleva; Nestor A. Fernandez

ABSTRACT Idiozetes malgache n. sp., collected from Madagascar, is described and illustrated, based on adult specimens. This new species is distinguishable from the two other known species in the genus by the following set of characters: cerotegument thick; elongate-polygonal reticula on prodorsum and plicate smooth layer on notogaster; cuticle smooth; ro and le present; in absent; pteromorphs narrow with a pointed tip; discidium present; four pairs of sacculi; six pairs of gastronotic setae; five pairs of lyrifissures; epimeral setation (3-1-2-3); six pairs of genital setae; legs heterotridactylous, sockets incomplete on tibia I to IV and genu I and II; setal formula: I (0-4-3-4-17-3) (1-2-2); II (1-4-3-2-14-3) (1-1-2); III (1-2-1-3-13-3) (1-1-0); IV (0-2-2-3-13-3)(0-1-0). The genus is redefined.

Rogerzetes lacouturieri n. gen., n. sp., (Acari: Oribatida: Eremaeozetidae) from Madagascar

Nestor A. Fernandez; Régis Cleva

ABSTRACT Rogerzetes lacouturieri n. gen., n. sp., collected from Manankaza Forest Station, Ambohitantely, Tananarive, Madagascar, is described and illustrated based on adult specimens. The new genus is distinguishable by the following combination of character states: body flattened; posterior part of lamellae fused, forming plate-like structure with rounded margin partially covering the bothridia; central posterior part plate-like, with tongue-like expansion surpassing dorsosejugal furrow; end of longitudinal fissure round–ovoid; large apical lamellae; naso and prodorsal sensory structures present; tube between le and sensory structure; in absent; prehumeral tecta prominent, partially covering the bothridia; 10 pairs of notogastral setae; anal plate ending in long spine; legs heterotridactylous. The new species is characterized by the following combination of characteristics cuticular microsculpture of foveate pattern; prodorsum with internal well-developed sensory structure; anterior part of notogaster, between dorsosejugal furrow and lenticulus, flat, semi-circular area, and at lower level than surrounding notogaster; prehumeral tecta ear-like; notogastral setae short and rod-like; epimeral setation (3-1-1-2). Eremaeozetes betschi, Fernandez and Cleva, 2009, is transferred to the new genus.

Malgachebates peyrierasi n. gen., n. sp. (Acari: Oribatida: Plasmobatidae) from Madagascar

Régis Cleva; Nestor A. Fernandez

ABSTRACT Malgachebates peyrierasi n. gen. n. sp., collected from Ankarongambe Forest Station, Tamatave province, mid-eastern Madagascar, is described and illustrated based on adult specimens. The new genus is easily distinguishable by the following combination of character states: rectilinear notogastral structure near dorsosejugal furrow; microsculpture of notogastral cuticle devoid of foveate pattern, only small acicula and furrows present; a pair of notogastral depressions; macropore opening operculate or not, situated directly on cuticular surface; opisthosomal gland and opening of podocephalic canal on large conical apophysis; upper surface of epimeres plate-like and at different levels; sejugal apodeme present; epimeral sejugal furrow deeper than other furrows; seven pairs of genital setae; aggenital setae absent; larval scalp with three gibbose areas separated by transverse furrows.

Malgacheliodes guillaumeti n. gen., n. sp. (Acari, Oribatida, Pheroliodidae) de Madagascar

Nestor A. Fernandez; Régis Cleva

Fernandez N. & Cleva R. 2010. —Malgacheliodes guillaumeti n. gen., n. sp. (Acari, Oribatida, Pheroliodidae) de Madagascar. Zoosystema 32 (4) : 567-583. ABSTRACT Malgacheliodes guillaumeti n. gen., n. sp. (Acari, Oribatida, Pheroliodidae)from Madagascar. A series of oribatid specimens of the family Pheroliodidae belonging to a new genus and new species, Malgacheliodes guillaumeti n. gen., n. sp. have been collected in Madagascar, in the Andringitra mountain, located in the southern third of the island. The adult and immature stasis are described and illustrated and a key of the family genera is proposed. Malgacheliodes n. gen. is close to Pheroliodes, but can be separated from the latter by a set of characters that justify the establishment of a new genus: eight pairs of genital setae, arranged in two rows; pedotectal tooth, custodial point and discidium present; trachea 1 vestigial; distal apophyse of tibia I with two hollows; seta d present. The new species is characterized by, in the adults: sensillus, a flattened club; ip half-circle shaped; epimeric borders not exactly corresponding with respective apodemes; half apodemes 2 and sj ending far from the plan of symetry; femora carenated, with tracheas. And in the immatures: trachea I present; sockets complete, well developped on tarsus, tibias and genu, already present on the larva; socket of femur IV visible from deutonymphal stase; 1 and 2 housed in two separated hollows from deutonymphal stase.
