Aristoserratenine and tasmanine: structures and absolute configurations

Mohammad A. Hai; Nigel W. Preston; Henri-Philippe Hussont; Christiane Kan-Fan; Ralph C. Bick

Abstract The structure of the Aristorelia alkaloid aristoserratenine ( 1 ) has been determined by spectroscopic means, and confirmed by rearrangement to aristoteline ( 2 ). The structure of tasmanine ( 3 ) has been confirmed similarly, and the configuration at the spiro carbon of each base has been determined by nOe experiments.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1980

Aristotelinone and serratoline: New indole alkaloids from Aristotelia serrata W.R.B. Oliver

I. Ralph C. Bick; Mohammad A. Hai; Nigel W. Preston; Rex T. Gallagher

Abstract Aristotelinone and serratoline, two new Aristotelia alkaloids, are shown to have indole and indolenine structures respectively from their spectra and reduction products.

Australian Journal of Chemistry | 1979

Alkaloids ofAgastachys odorata

Irc Bick; Jw Gillard; H Leow; Nigel W. Preston

The Tasmanian endemic proteaceous plant Agastachys odorata contains the known alkaloid (-)-6β-acetoxy-3α-tigloyloxytropane, and 3α-(p-hydroxybenzoyloxy)trop-6-ene, the first naturally occurring tropene base.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1988

Aristofruticosine, a novel indole alkaloid from Aristotelia Fruticosa

I. Ralph C. Bick; Mohammad A. Hai; Nigel W. Preston

The isolation and structural determination of aristofruticosine (1), an alkaloid with a unique 3-azatricyclo[3.3.1.03,7]nonane nucleus, is described.

Journal of The Chemical Society, Chemical Communications | 1979

Synthesis and X-ray crystal structure of fruticosonine, a novel indole alkaloid from a New Zealand Aristotelia sp. (elaeocarpaceae)

Narongsak Chaichit; Bryan M. Gatehouse; I. Ralph C. Bick; Mohammad A. Hai; Nigel W. Preston

The structure of fruticosonine, a new type of indole alkaloid from A. fruticosa, has been determined by X-ray crystallography and by synthesis.

Journal of The Chemical Society, Chemical Communications | 1975

Aristoteline, a novel indole alkaloid: X-ray structural determination

Bryan F. Anderson; G. B. Robertson; Hugh P. Avey; William F. Donovan; I. Ralph C. Bick; John B. Bremner; Anthony J. T. Finney; Nigel W. Preston; Rex T. Gallagher; Graeme B. Russell

X-Ray crystallography shows that aristoteline, the main alkaloid of the New Zealand plant Aristotelia serrata, has the novel indole structure (I).
