Effect of the particle size of fluorocarbon‐based finishing agents on fastness and color properties of 100% cotton knitted fabrics

Nihat Çelik; Halil İbrahim İçoğlu; Pınar Erdal

This study examines the effect of the particle size of fluorocarbon‐based water‐oil‐soil‐repellent finishing agents on color fastness and colorimetric properties by experimental analyses. Therefore, two finishing agents with different particle sizes were applied to red‐dyed and blue‐dyed knitted fabric samples of single jersey and rib‐structured knits, produced from 100% cotton yarns. The results show that smaller particle size causes less color change for all washings (0, 1 and 5), both of the dyes and the fabric structures (single jersey and rib). Also, it is observed that smaller particle size positively affects the rub fastness results.

Analyzing the effect of the elastane-containing dual-core weft yarn density on the denim fabric performance properties

Osman Gökhan Ertaş; Belkıs Zervent Ünal; Nihat Çelik

Denim fabrics form today’s mostly utilized fabric type. As is the case with the other textile products, there are many factors affecting the properties and the performance of the denim products. Within the scope of this study, we have evaluated the effect of the density changes in the use of the dual-core threads – used in an ever-increasing fashion in the textile industry – in weft have on the fabric properties. We have analyzed the extent to which the weight, size, elasticity, tensile strength, and cost properties of the denim fabrics woven with the dual-core weft thread in various densities are affected by the changes in the number of dual-core weft threads per unit length. In conclusion, we have come to such striking remarks as that the construction has a much more impact on the fabric width and thus on the unit weight than the elasticity ratio, and that density changes in the elastane-containing threads cause serious differences on the fabric’s color values.

Bilgisayar Destekli Yarı-Otomatik Tasarlanmış ve Geliştirilmiş Yerli Bir Numune Dokuma Makinesi

Deniz Mutlu Ala; Nihat Çelik

This project involves designing, improving and making a prototype with having computercontrolled shedding, weaving design and patterning as a new version of the semi-automated dobby sampling loom, manufactured by Gulas-Machine (Istanbul). A CAD-CAM program that can manage the shedding function of this machine, Woven Pattern Design Program, was developed with DELPHI XE5 version. The developed Woven Pattern Design Program, not only manage the machine functions but also it can be used for individual studies for the weaving patterns and production planning. This article represents technical information, functions and usage of the developed sampling loom

Deniz Mutlu Ala; Nihat Çelik

In this study, a CAD-CAM program which can be used for individual studies for the weaving patterns and production planning, Weaving Pattern Design Program, was developed using DELPHI XE5 version. Drawing plans and dobby plans are produced manually or automatically with pattern design. Pattern design and development tools are used in program menu. The developed Woven Pattern Design Program also provides managing the shedding mechanism of a national sampling loom directly from the computer. Investigation on Regenerated Cellulosic Knitted Fabric Performance by Using Silicone Softeners with Different Particle Sizes

Esin Sarıoğlu; Nihat Çelik

Silicone softeners make fabric not only softer, brighterd slippery but also more elastic in order to produce desirable handle. In this paper, the affect of silicone softeners on some mechanical and functional properties of knitted regenerated (viscose, modal, Viloft®, micromodal, lyocell and bamboo) fabrics were assessed. For this purpose, commercially used silicone softeners with three different particle sizes (macro, semi-macro, micro) were applied on these fabrics by a continuous methodin identical conditions. The impact of using different softeners on the weight, thickness, pilling resistance, wet and dry rubbing fastness, total colour change and air permeability of these fabrics were investigated. Results revealed that the highest colour efficiency is obtained from lyocell fabrics. Silicone softener application increased the pilling performance of regenerated cellulose fabrics but had no affect on the wet and dry rubbing color fastness. It was found that the application of softeners has a significant affect on air permeability with respect to untreated fabrics.

Open-end Rotor İpliğinden Üretilen Süprem Örme Kumaş Maliyetinin Analizi

Ebru Çoruh; Nihat Çelik

In order to determine the cost of necessary goods or services, it is essential to determine the production costs. In this study the cost parameters of a final product during the manufacture from the fibre to the knitted fabric are examined and analyzed separately for each production process. Spinning, knitting, and dying processes, raw materials, labor, energy, amortisation, maintenance and other costs were computed by formulations. Single jersey knitted fabrics made from OE rotor spun yarns were considered. The yarns having the same counts as Ne 30/1 were manufactured by different nozzle types using 100% cotton of Urfa region, Turkey All production activities have been realized under the same mill conditions. Fabric productions were realized using a 28 fine, 32 inch diameter single plated Mayer & Cie. Relanit 3.2 circular knitting machine. As a result, the cost analysis was carried out to produce one kilo of open-end rotor yarn and raw single jersey fabrics [1]. And it was found that the open-end rotor yarn of Ne 30 would cost around 4.32 ̈ / kg and jersey fabric produced from that yarn would cost around 4.70 ̈ / kg.

Investigation of Weaving Capability of a Computer Controlled and Semi-Automatic Sampling Loom

Deniz Mutlu Ala; Nihat Çelik

In this study weaving capability of a prototype sampling loom with having computer-controlled shedding, weaving design and patterning is investigated. First, preparation stage of prototype sampling loom with the selected weave types before weaving process is investigated comparing with the semi-automated punched-card sampling loom. To evaluate the weaving capability of the improved prototype loom samples were woven in selected weave types with weft yarns in three different yarn counts. The results of weaving periods and structural characteristics of the samples were investigated in terms of weave type and weft yarn count.

İki İplikli Örme Kumaşların Birim Maliyetini Hesaplayan Bir Yazılım Geliştirilmesi

Züleyha Değirmenci; Nihat Çelik

Ticari faaliyet gosteren bir isletmenin piyasa sartlarinda varligini surdurebilmesi icin uretmis oldugu veya ticaretini surdurdugu urununun birim maliyetini bilmesi gerekir. Birim maliyete etki eden direk ve direk olmayan unsurlar vardir. Bir orme isletmesinde birim maliyete etki eden unsurlar hammadde, enerji, iscilik, amortisman, bakim ve terbiye maliyetleridir. Birim zamanda uretilecek ormekumas miktari, urunun desenine, ozelliklerine, kullanilan iplik ozelliklerine, terbiye islemlerinin cesitlerine ve kullanilacak makineye gore degisim gosterir. Bu calismada genellikle serbest zaman giysilerini uretmek icin kullanilan iki iplikli (astarli/fleece)ve elastanli orme kumaslarin birim maliyetini saniyeler icinde yapabilen bir maliyet hesaplayicisi tasarlanmistir. Bu hesaplayici yazilimin arayuzu Delphi 7 programlama dilinde Windows’a uyumlu olarak yazilmistir. Calismada sunulan yazilimin orme kumas uretiminde calisan sanayiciler ve akademisyenler acisindan faydali olacagi dusunulmektedir.
