Recommendation system for tourist attraction information service

A. P. Smirnov; Alexey M. Kashevnik; Andrew Ponomarev; Nikolay Shilov; Maksim Schekotov; Nikolay Teslya

The paper proposes a description of information decision support system in the tourism domain and a set of methods and algorithms for generating recommendations for a user that allow significant increase of the system usability. The system generates for the user recommendations which attractions at the moment are better to attend based on the user preferences and the current situation in the location area. The system also allows showing the user information about interesting attraction in more detail, which is based on analyzing information evaluations made by other users.

Smart Space-Based Tourist Recommendation System

Alexander V. Smirnov; Alexey M. Kashevnik; Andrew Ponomarev; Nikolay Teslya; Maksim Shchekotov; Sergey Balandin

The paper presents smart space-based tourist recommendation system that allows acquiring information about places of interests around the tourist from different internet sources (like wikipedia, wikivoyage, wikitravel, panoramio, flickr). The system implements ranking acquired attractions accord- ing to the tourist preferences and current situation in the tourist location. Tour- ists can rate attractions that they like or dislike. Based on these ratings a rec- ommendation service clusters tourists into groups with similar interests and us- es evaluations of tourists belonging to the same group for ranking attractions around the tourist. The paper presents a prototype service for these purposes that is based on smart space technology. The prototype has been developed for Android devices and is available for free downloaded from Google Play market.

Smart Logistic Service for Dynamic Ridesharing

Alexander V. Smirnov; Nikolay Shilov; Alexey M. Kashevnik; Nikolay Teslya

The paper describes a service-based approach to dynamic ridesharing based on the smart space concept. Presented system allows planning and assisting a tourist for museum attending and finds a driver for reaching the museums. The paper applies an approach presented in FRUCT 11 to assisting tourists in a certain area (e.g., in a given city). Smart-M3 information platform is used as a smart space infrastructure for the presented approach. The service is based on the Smart-M3 ontology which is formed by ontology slices of user’s mobile devices. The paper presents an algorithm for finding appropriate fellow-travelers for drivers as well as definition of acceptable pick-up and drop-off points for them.

Smart space-based intelligent mobile tourist guide: Service-based implementation

Alexander V. Smirnov; Alexey M. Kashevnik; Andrew Ponomarev; Nikolay Shilov; Maksim Shchekotov; Nikolay Teslya

The paper presents an intelligent mobile tourist guide architecture that allows tourists to get information about attractions around the current geographic location based on tourist context and estimations of other tourists. Information about attractions (images and description blocks) is extracted from different internet services (like Wikipedia, Wikivoyage, Wikitravel, Panoramio, Flickr) “on the fly” that allows to use mobile tourist guide in any region of the world and get actual at the moment information. The mobile tourist guide provides information about public transport and car sharing possibilities for the tourist with drivers nearby for comfortable reaching preferred attractions. It is based on the smart space technology that provides possibilities of personal devices and different services seamless integration. The paper also discusses services interaction in smart space that allows to implement majority of mobile tourist guide tasks in computational power devices and use personal mobile devices only for results visualization.

Smart-M3-based robots self-organization in pick-and-place system

Alexander V. Smirnov; Alexey M. Kashevnik; Nikolay Teslya; Sergey Mikhailov; Anton I. Shabaev

This paper presents an approach for robots selforganization for pick-and-place scenario based on Smart-M3 information sharing platform that provide possibilities of information sharing between different services in smart space. In scope of the approach the reference model for robots selforganization has been developed. To provide semantic interoperability, the ontologies for the robots participating in the scenario, have been built. The scenario implementation is based on Lego® Mindstorms EV3 set for robot construction, which is one of the most popular sets for education at the moment.

Proactive Recommendation System for m-Tourism Application

Alexander V. Smirnov; Alexey M. Kashevnik; Andrew Ponomarev; Nikolay Shilov; Nikolay Teslya

In m-tourism applications, the proactive recommendations are especially actual for two major reasons: (1) the highly dynamic nature of the problem situation (the user continuously moves, the transport situation and weather conditions change); (2) limited possibilities of mobile devices for explicit information entry and checking large amounts of alternative solutions, but rich possibilities for tacit information entry via various sensors. The paper proposes an approach and research prototype based on the technologies of smart space and proactive recommendation systems. The architecture is based on the smart space technology. The system implementing the proposed approach helps the tourists to plan their attraction attending schedule based on the context information about the current situation in the region, its foreseen development, the tourist’s preferences and previous behavior, using their mobile devices.

Industrial cyber-physical system for lenses assembly: configuration workstation scenario

Alexey M. Kashevnik; Nikolay Teslya; Boris Padun; Kirill Kipriyanov; Valery Arckhipov

The paper presents industrial cyber-physical system for two robots interaction in configuration workstation for lenses assembly. Robots interact with each other through the smart space infrastructure, which is developed based on Smart-M3 information sharing platform. Authors focus on the reference model of proposed system and its implementation for flexible automated assembly line (agile automated assembly line ≪3AL≫) accessible in the research laboratory of the ITMO University.

Ontology for Resource Self-organisation in Cyber-Physical-Social Systems

Nikolay Teslya; Alexander V. Smirnov; Tatiana Levashova; Nikolay Shilov

Cyber-Physical-Social Systems (CPSSs) are expected to be context-aware. Sharable contexts lie at the heart of the context-aware systems. Ontologies provide means to create sharable ontology-based context models. Such ontologies are referred to as context ontologies. Context is an ontology-based model specified for actual settings. The present research inherits the idea of context ontologies usage for modelling context in CPSSs. In this work, an upper level context ontology for CPSSs is proposed. This ontology is applied in the domain of self-organising resource network. A case study from the area of proactive recommendation systems demonstrates the proposed approach.

OpenStreetMap-Based Dynamic Ridesharing Service

Alexander V. Smirnov; Nikolay Shilov; Alexey M. Kashevnik; Nikolay Teslya

This chapter describes a service-based approach to dynamic ridesharing based on the smart space concept. Ridesharing is the shared use of a car by a driver and one or more passengers. Dynamic ridesharing supposes dynamic formation of carpools depending on the current situation. The approach uses a set of open-source applications for routing and visualization of joint trips based on the OpenStreetMap platform. An open-source Smart-M3 information platform is utilized as an information fusion infrastructure, which acquires information about the current situation from ridesharing participants and other services. One possible use of the presented service is supporting tourists in a certain region.

Knowledge Management for Complex Product Development

Alexander V. Smirnov; Alexey M. Kashevnik; Nikolay Teslya; Nikolay Shilov; Andreas Oroszi; Mario Sinko; Michael Humpf; Jens Arneving

Complex product development process in global companies usually consists of several stages involving different software systems and numerous users from various departments and centers. Automation of this process assumes changes in company’s workflows, data models and software systems used. As a result, implementation of such changes in large companies faces a lot of difficulties because business process cannot be stopped to switch between old and new workflows, old and new software systems, etc. The paper represents an ongoing long-term project aimed at knowledge management for multi-level complex product development at Festo AG&Co KG. It is based on the central product ontology describing product classification, their properties and configuration & compatibility restrictions. The developed system complex significantly simplifies and speeds up the process of product development and maintenance.
