Photochemical reactions of some β-aminovinyl ketones and related compounds have been examined. Irradiation of the β-NN-dialkylaminovinyl phenyl ketones (1a–g) yielded the corresponding pyrroles (2a–g′), while ketones (1h–m) were inert. Irradiation of the (β-benzoylvinyl)trialkylammonium chlorides (7a and b) afforded the 1,4-diketones (8a and b) respectively. Irradiation of β-ethoxyvinyl phenyl ketone (5) gave an intractable mixture, while the corresponding thioketone (6) was photochemically inactive. Photolysis of the 2-dialkylaminobenzophenones (9a and b) gave the corresponding indoles (10a and b) respectively, accompanied by dealkylation products. The formation of the pyrrole was presumed to occur from the n–π* triplet state. The mechanisms of these photochemical reactions are discussed.

The u.v. spectra of β-amino-enones with trans-s-trans, cis-s-trans, and cis-s-cis structures are discussed. In the case of the s-trans-enone chromophore, the bathochromic shifts of β-amino-groups in the cis-position are 80–90 nm., and those of β-amino-groups in the trans-position are 60–70 nm. β-Monoalkylamino-enones show solvent effects which suggest the existence of tautomerism.

Methyl β-benzoyl-α-methoxypropionate was obtained from methyl β-benzoyl-β-bromopropionate by treatment with potassium acetate in methanol. Kinetic studies indicate that this reaction proceeds via elimination of hydrogen bromide and addition of methanol.

U.v. irradiation of the 16-oxo-oleanenes (1) and (2) yielded the γ-hydrogen transfer products, (4) and (5) respectively. Irradiation of cis-decalin-1,4-dione (3), a simple model for compounds (1) and (2), also gave a γ-hydrogen transfer product (6) in high yield. The irradiation of trans-decalin-1,4-dione was also studied.

A new flavone compound called arthraxin has been isolated from Arthraxon hispidus Makino. It has the empirical formula C21H16O9. Based on chemical and physical studies, a structure (1) has been assigned to the compound.

セピオメラニンの構造研究の一方法として熱分解反応を検討した。酸素の存在下での熱分解は150℃以上で起るが,酸素のない場合はさらに高温にしなげればならない。 熱分解産物中にピロール-2,3-ジカルボソ酸が確認されたことからメラユンのο-キノイド部分の分解を推定した。また,DMF申メラニンを還流することにより,メラニンの高分子構造がかなり保存されたままで可溶性になることを見いだした。

目的:従来,酸化チタンは,イルメナイト,砂鉄,チタンスラグ等のチタン原料を濃硫酸で分解する酸法で作られている。われわれは,従来の方法とは全く異なったカセイソーダと過酸化水素とによって,TiO2を溶出するアルカリ法とでもいうべき新方法の工業的可能性を検討し,その方法の確立を目的とした。特長:酸を使用しないため,鉄分で汚染されない製品がえられる。また,酸法と異なって,直接,加水分解によって被覆力,着色力の強いルチル型の製品がえられる。結果:メタチタン酸ナトリウムの加水分解による水和酸化チタンは,カセイソーダと過酸化水素に可溶化することがわかり,アルカリ法による酸化チタン製法の主工程を確立し,優秀な製品がえられた。

(1) 冷壓エゴ油をAthylenglgkol-monoathylatherを溶媒に用ひ苛性カリを以て冷時鹸化を行ひ得たるエゴノールを注意して再結晶したが結局光學的不活性エゴノールに到達した.(2) Styraxinolsaure-Brucin鹽を造り之をアムモニア水で冷時鹸化を行ひ再び光學的不活性のStyraxinolsaureに到達した.(3) 以上の實驗結果よりエゴノールの構造式としては不齊炭素原子を有せざるI′式の可能性が濃厚になつて來た.しかしエゴノールに於てはラセミ化を起し易い不齊炭素原子を保有すとなすべき原子配置をも合せて考慮せねばならぬから構造式の正確なる決定は今後の研究に俟つ.(4) エゴノールは水酸基の水素以外に尚1個の炭素に直結せる活性水素原子を保有することを檢出し得た.
