Hot luminescence from F centers in KCl studied by time-resolved polarization spectroscopy

Norio Akiyama; Shinji Muramatsu; S Ide; H. Ohkura

A dynamical de-excitation process for optically excited electrons in F centers in KCl is studied by using time-resolved polarization spectroscopy. The ordinary luminescence (OL) and the hot luminescence (HL) in the OL region are separated from a resonant secondary radiation, and the HL is decomposed into two components with different behaviors. They are the HL in a short time after excitation and an emission from 2p-like states after a long time from excitation. The dynamics of the optical excitation is interpreted phenomenologically in terms of a configuration coordinate model.

Picosecond spectroscopy of the resonant secondary radiation of F centers in KCl

Norio Akiyama; H. Ohkura

Abstract Resonant secondary radiation of F centers in KCl is studied, using time-resolved picosecond spectroscopy. A novel mechanism is proposed, viz., that the optically excited F electron is de-excited as the lattice relaxes in a 2p adiabatic potential.

Adsorption of Primary Alcohol Molecules on Trigonal Selenium Nanowires

Norio Akiyama; Tsukio Ohtani

The gas sensor responses of bundled trigonal-selenium nanowires (t-SeNWs) were investigated for the series of primary alcohols (CnH2n+1OH; n = 1–10) at room temperature. It was found that the primary alcohol molecules for n = 1–4 were adsorbed simply on the SeNW surface as n increased. Primary alcohol molecules with n = 5–10 had different characteristic behaviors than those with n = 1–4. The adsorption configuration of primary alcohol molecules on the surfaces of t-SeNWs is discussed.
