Gradient Structural-Phase States in the Thermostrengthened Low-Carbon Steel Reinforcement

Thermomechanical strengthening increases the strength and plasticity of low-alloy low-carbon steel reinforcement and provides an alternative to expensive alloying. Scanning and transmission electron microscopy investigations of the failure surface, phase composition, morphology, and defect substructure of 0.25% carbon steel (St3 ps) after thermal strengthening by discontinuous quenching in the rolling-mill line reveals the formation of a gradient states in the rod cross-section.

Employing rolling and separation technology in the 250-1 mill

Experience in introducing rolling and separation technology at the OAO ZSMK 250-1 continuous small-bar mill is summarized. The grooving configuration adopted is outlined, along with the results of its introduction. The possibility of combining rolling and separation technology with thermomechanical hardening in the production of reinforcing profiles 10 and 12 is considered. The optimal conditions of thermomechanical hardening are determined.
