In this paper, we propose a Control Lyapunov Function based nonlinear robust controller for turbocharged Diesel engine. The basic idea is to develop inverse optimal control and utilize more general Lyapunov function which provides additional degree of freedom in order to achieve better performance. The obtained controller gain guarantees the global convergence of the Diesel engine system and regulates the flows for the Variable Geometry Turbocharger and Exhaust Gas Recirculation systems in order to optimize oxygen-fuel ratio and intake manifold EGR fraction. Simulation of the control performance based on professional simulator AMESim (LMS) shows the effectiveness of this approach.

In this paper we propose a nonlinear controller based on sum of squares decomposition applied to turbocharged diesel engine. The basic idea is to employ polynomial Lyapunov function in order to formulate the stability sufficient condition in the terms of state dependent matrix inequalities. The obtained controller gain guarantees the global convergence of the system and regulates the flows for the Variable Geometry Turbocharger and the Exhaust Gas Recirculation systems in order to minimize the NOx emission and the smoke of diesel engine. Simulation of the control performances through a professional software shows the effectiveness of this approach.

Abstract The paper deals with the time switching hybrid systems described by nonlinear control equations with nonlinearity of a sector form. The estimation of the solution of the control system at any moment is established through the method of Lyapunov function. Both cases, stable and unstable control systems are considered. The final estimation of the solution of the hybrid system is obtained from the composition of perturbations of the separate control systems using the condition of solution continuity in the points of switching.

We develop an optimization algorithm in order to improve the nonlinear optimal robust controller for diesel engine which equipped by Exhaust Gas Recirculation and Variable Geometry Turbocharger systems. For this goal we present a new way to search the optimal shape of control Lyapunov function which permits to calculate the parameters to achieve stabilization and optimal control criteria. The idea is to verify different form of Lyapunov functions in order to desire better performance.

In this paper, we propose a new way to apply a Sum-Of-Squares technic for parameters calculation of Control Lyapunov function to achieve stabilization and optimal control. It permits to develop an optimization algorithm in order to improve the nonlinear optimal robust controller applied to diesel engine which is equipped by Exhaust Gas Recirculation and Variable Geometry Turbocharger. The idea is to develop an inverse optimal control and to verify different form of Lyapunov functions in order to obtain better control performance.

Abstract In this paper, we propose a control Lyapunov function based on a nonlinear controller for a turbocharged diesel engine. A model-based approach is used which predicts the experimentally observed engine performance for a biodiesel. The basic idea is to develop an inverse optimal control and to employ a Lyapunov function in order to achieve good performances. The obtained controller gain guarantees the global convergence of the system and regulates the flows for the variable geometry turbocharger as well as exhaust gas recirculation systems in order to minimize the NOx emission and the smoke of a biodiesel engine. Simulation of the control performances based on professional software and experimental results show the effectiveness of this approach.

We investigate a special case of switched system which are described by a set of nonlinear control systems with nonlinearity of sector type. Using Lyapunov function method we obtain the estimations of switched system solution at the final time moment depending of initial state of solution. The subsystems can be stable or unstable. We investigate using Lyapunov function of Lurje-Postnikov type [5], [9] and final estimation we obtain by composition of perturbations of the separate subsystems of initial switched system on the whole interval considered.
