15th International Conference on Ultrafast Phenomena (2006), paper WC7 | 2006

Design and Fabrication of Efficient Reflection Grisms for Pulse Compression and Dispersion Compensation

Emily A. Gibson; Henry C. Kapteyn; David M. Gaudiosi; Ralph Jimenez; Steve Kane; Fred Tortajada; Herb Dinger; Bruno Touzet; Rachel Huff; Jeff Squier; C. G. Durfee; P. B. Corkum; David M. Jonas; R. J. D. Miller; A. M. Weiner

Efficient reflection prisms for pulse compression and material-dispersion compensation have been designed and demonstrated in a CPA system. Designs for 800-nm and 1030-nm ultrafast applications are realized using off-the-shelf diffraction gratings.

Ultrafast Phenomena XVI | 2009

Nanoscale Heat Transport Probed with Ultrafast Soft X-Rays

P. B. Corkum; Sandro Silvestri; K. A. Nelson; E. Riedle; R. W. Schoenlein; Mark E. Siemens; Qing Li; Margaret M. Murnane; Henry C. Kapteyn; Ronggui Yang; Keith A. Nelson

We characterize heat transport in nanostructures using coherent soft x-rays to probe thermally induced surface deformation. By varying the substrate temperature, we observe the transition from diffusive to quasi-ballistic heat transport

15th International Conference on Ultrafast Phenomena (2006), paper MH26 | 2006

Grism Based Stretcher/Compressor System for Amplified, Femtosecond Kilohertz Lasers

P. B. Corkum; David M. Jonas; R. J. D. Miller; A. M. Weiner; David M. Gaudiosi; Emily A. Gibson; Steve Kane; Rachel Huff; Margaret M. Murnane; Henry C. Kapteyn; C. G. Durfee; Jeff Squier; Ralph Jimenez

We demonstrate a simple and efficient grism based stretcher/compression system. 40 fs, 300 µJ pulses are generated at 5 kHz using this unique amplifier design.

Ultrafast Phenomena XVI | 2009

Ultrafast Molecular and Materials Dynamics probed by Coherent X-Rays

P. B. Corkum; Sandro Silvestri; Keith A. Nelson; E. Riedle; R. W. Schoenlein; Margaret M. Murnane; Henry C. Kapteyn

Ultrafast short-wavelength light is ideal as a probe of complex, highly excited, systems. We resolve for the first time the decay of core-excited atoms adsorbed onto a surface, and x-ray driven molecular dissociation

Ultrafast Phenomena XVI | 2009

Ultrafast Coherent Interactions in Quantum Wells Studied by Two-Dimensional Fourier Transform Spectroscopy

P. B. Corkum; Sandro Silvestri; K. A. Nelson; E. Riedle; R. W. Schoenlein; Tianhao Zhang; I. Kuznetsova; Lijun Yang; Alan D. Bristow; Xingcan Dai; Xiaoqin Li; T. Meier; Peter Thomas; Shaul Mukamel; Richard P. Mirin; Steven T. Cundiff

Many-body effects dominate the polarization studies of heavy- and light-hole excitons. Accurate simulations require Coulomb correlations beyond Hartree-Fock approximation. Raman coherences are isolated with a new two-dimensional projection.

15th International Conference on Ultrafast Phenomena (2006), paper MD5 | 2006

Enhanced High Harmonic Generation from Ions using a Capillary Discharge

P. B. Corkum; David M. Jonas; R. J. D. Miller; A. M. Weiner; Tenio Popmintchev; Brendan A. Reagan; David M. Gaudiosi; M. Grisham; M. Berrill; Offir Cohen; Barry C. Walker; Margaret M. Murnane; Henry C. Kapteyn; J. J. Rocca

We demonstrate a significant increase of the high harmonic cutoff in xenon, from 70 eV to 150 eV, using a pre-ionized plasma created with a capillary discharge.

15th International Conference on Ultrafast Phenomena (2006), paper MB2 | 2006

Observation of Intra-molecular Vibrational Dynamics Using High-Harmonic Generation as a Probe

N. L. Wagner; Andrea Wüest; Henry C. Kapteyn; Margaret M. Murnane; P. B. Corkum; David M. Jonas; R. J. D. Miller; A. M. Weiner

As one of the first observations of intra-molecular dynamics using high-order harmonic generation, we impulsively excite vibrations in SF6 and observe oscillations in the intensity of high-order harmonic emission from these molecules.

Ultrafast Phenomena XVI | 2009

Molecular Recollision Interferometry in High Harmonic Generation

P. B. Corkum; Sandro Silvestri; Keith A. Nelson; E. Riedle; R. W. Schoenlein; Xibin Zhou; Robynne Lock; N. L. Wagner; Wen Li; Henry C. Kapteyn; Margaret M. Murnane
